Colin Kaepernick has led the San Francisco 49ers to back-to-back NFC Championship games, and a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. His dyanmic play style mixed with a fiery personality (much like his head coach), has returned the 49ers to their elite status. Now through his third NFL season, Kaepernick is eligible for an extension to his $5.12M rookie scaled contract. As of now, he's set to earn $1.073M in cash, with a cap figure of $1.63M for the 2014 season.
Much like our forecast for Panthers QB Cam Newton, Kaepernick's unique skill set lends itself to varying evaluation methods. He may be the first of the current generation of "young mobile quarterbacks" to be granted a long-term contract.
Spotrac's Prediction: 6 years, $118,382,000
Average annual salary $19,730, 000, estimated $43,847,000 guaranteed
Contract Forecast: Colin Kaepernick

No. Furthermore, do columnists ever proofread anymore? The word dynamic is spelled dynamic, not dyanmic.

If Cutler and Romo can do jack shit and suck and neither ever won a playoff game, and they can get loaded deals, I'm sure Kap can.

The problem is, who are we gonna let walk so we can sign Kap?

Just cause Cutler and Romo got huge deals doesn't mean we should dish that out. I'd rather just say fuck the QB position if we have to spend that kind of money on an avg QB. We could use that extra salary to pump up our defense even more.

I think that he gets no where near that. The Defense has been a big part in our winning seasons. Specifically Fangio and the playcalling on defense. Manusky was terrible. I think that he gets maybe 10 mil a year.

Kap is 26 years old and he took our team to the SB last year and 1 play away from another SB, yes he deserves a new contract and to have all his weapons for a whole year. 2 years ago he had Crabtree and no one else, a bunch of fucking bums, this year Boldin and again a bunch of fucking bums. You people need to look at that, could you imagine if he had Boldin, Crabtree, Davis and Patton all year long, when Crabtree came back before the NFC title game I believe he had 10-1 TD/INT. Some people on here don't have a clue.

Vernon Davis is no good, no way he should be the highest poo aid te. They need to rework his deal and make Kaep pkay this season out under a microscope with a drafted stud breathing down his neck.

No way dude. I hate Romo and the Cowboys as much as anybody but Kap isn't anywhere close to the QB Romo is. Backbreaking INTs on national TV aside, Romo is a hell of a QB.

Actually, Cutler went to the NFC Title Game in 2010...Romo has one playoff victory his whole career, so yes I partly agree....Either make him play out his contract, if we do that, he could command even more after 2014 if he plays lights out...He and Aldon are must extensions this offseason..They definitely should not (or will not) wait until they all become free agents.

I'm more concerned with a deal for Harbaugh and Boldin. I say extend the other guys and limit a little the cap space for Kaep next season and see if he improves and wants to be a team player and take a little discount.

Most likely he gets one. There is still a chance that he will develop into a good quarterback and I doubt the 49ers are ready to give up on him this quickly. Besides, who do they have who is any better? I'd say stick with him for a couple of seasons and see what happens.

Harbaugh will no doubt get his deal and a raise. His salary doesent count against the cap either! lol....As for Boldin, I believe they will be able to sign him to a 2 year deal to keep him. Of all our free agents, he is the priority.

I also think that Boldin is priority #1. Maybe a two-year deal 10-12 mil. I have no doubt Harbaugh will get his money. Three NFC titles games in a row to start your NFL coaching is great. I just hope that the Niners find a way to develop WR's.
