Exactly. It'd be nice to have him for a playoff run this year, but not at the cost paid by the Blue Jays.Dodgers can always chase him this winter if need be (if Greinke goes elsewhere).

You're probably fun at parties. No Hamels, No Price and a suspect offense equals yet another season with no World Championship. Latos sucks, Wood sucks and Avilan sucks.

Well, nothing has been heard, but logic points to something happening. We don't need Benoit, Jim Johnson is awesome (not that Benoit hurts).Villain, have you heard of any other moves? You have to think the FO isn't done given the fact that we have acquired so many players. Another relief pitcher would be great. Maybe Benoit if the price is right?
I can't believe that the Jays gave up that much for Price. He won't re-sign there so they look foolish.

How are they NOT using their financial might? The Dodgers are absorbing 40-50 million bucks to add 4 MLB players while not giving up any blue chip prospects. The Dodgers actually IMPROVED the farm in this trade by adding Jose Peraza.
Trading for Hamels or Price doesn't guarantee a Championship either.None of those players will have that much of an impact. I don't care about the minor league system, I want to win now. It's been long enough already. The Dodgers should have traded for Hamels or Price. It would offset the potential loss of Greinke.

Also, you seem to be forgetting that the Dodgers have more money than anyone else. The Dodgers can sign any free agent pitcher they want this winter. The class of possibly available pitchers is awesome, too. Price, Cueto, Fister, Zimmermann, Grienke...
Adding Hamels, Price, Kazmir, or Cueto would've been better than either Latos or Wood. That's absolutely right. But not at cost those teams were asking for. No thank you.
Latos and Wood are still good pitchers. They're not exactly chumps. Also, Jim Johnson is a lights-out reliever. I don't know why no one seems excited for him to be on the team.
As it appears right now, they're adding six people to the 40-Man Roster - Arroyo, Latos, Wood, Morse, Johnson, Avila. They're subtracting one (Paco already on 60-Day DL).
I just read that's not true. Beachy has enough service time to decline an assignment and become a free agent.Dodgers should be able to hold onto Beachy after he clears waivers.
Using it wisely is even better? That's exactly what they're doing. The only spent money that's gone to waste has been Brandon McCarthy.
I can tell you're obviously one of the pessimistic brands of fans out there, but believe it or not, including all the slumps and ups and downs that every player has had, the Dodgers still have one of the best offenses in the National League. The Dodgers have the most home runs and the best walk rate of any team in the NL.
Actually, I like McCarthy, just not at that price.
Not true at all on the pessimism. Just a long suffering Dodgers fan who can't believe a once proud franchise hasn't won it all since 1988. Chicks did the long ball. I don't want a bunch of homers in one game only to go to a place like San Francisco and get shutout for the entire 3 game series. Home runs and walk rates aside, the Dodgers are barely holding onto the division lead. And the Gnats just got Mike Leake who is better than injury-prone Latos. Maybe the Latos of a few years ago was OK, but not now. The Dodgers are taking on a lot of salary with these contracts yet it seems like none of these guys will be a real difference maker.

Alex Wood will be in the rotation for years to come, Jim Johnson and Jose Avilan are solid additions to the bullpen. The Dodgers took on the contracts of Morse, Arroyo and Latos who will all either be free agents or bought out by the end of the season. The Dodgers have plenty of money, paying a little bit in order to acquire premium young talent like Wood and Peraza. They're using their money exactly as they should. Executives around the league are most likely praising the trade.
