Some do even with the competition.

Loved watching David Wells. Don't really love watching Bartolo Colon, but it stills happens.
I love to see someone else footing the bill for Sandoval...

I come to this thread, and I read Omar and Villain's life stories and I cry for the next generation of losers. Comparing their lame-ass "histories" to the well constructed, thought-out memories of miamivice, is near pathetic. It is sort of like Omar and his pal didn't even try to make their stories entertaining. How can you compare Omar's 'fat' quips and Little League babble with being a former Marine, UM grad, and having a beauty contestant wife. And Villain....he admits to failure and goat fetishes. Where is this country headed?

PS...Omar this Pittsburgh Pirate stuff? Poorly done on your part. Vice would have used Stargell.

In 2010, I made District All-Star for Newark National Little League, hit 5th in the lineup, and we came in third in the state tournament. The winner that year, Brandywine, made it to Williamsport if I remember correctly

If we're comparing little league stats... my little league team was one game away from Williamsport. If you need references, I've got them for you but I really don't give enough of a fuck to post it right away. By the way, the Great Lakes region kicks the fuck out of the Mid Atlantic region.

@Omar 382 I can keep going.. like the fact that the 2010 Delaware State championship was between 3 teams... Brandywine, M-O-T (about 30 minutes from Newark), and Middletown (on the absolute opposite end of the state).

So besides the dad being a "pro" baseball player, what else would you like to admit to?

The 2010 team came in third in the state championship. So I don't know what you're talking about. The 2011 and 2012 teams were on ESPN.

LOL

Dude never pitched above A ball, but is telling all his kids that he made the show.

:L
I tend to think there are a lot of those kind of guys out there pimping their resume. My Dad claims a former Cub managed his LL team, but I've always called bullshit since he never named him as far as I know.

At least we're seeing Duffy was a bit of a fluke offensively. But he is a good defender.

Giants should be looking for a long term fit there.

I'm still amazed that Crawford became such a good hitter. But the Giants must have an amazing coaching staff. Cause they have more success turning bad minor league hitters into good hitters than any team i can think of.

Also... They went 0-4 in the region tournament. Almost to Williamsport.

Mid-Atlantic Region Little League® Tournament Historical Results

I will say this, you come in 5th in your region and you're pretty darn close to Wiliamsport.

My town finished something like 5th or 6th in 2001 for Senior League, that's 15-16 year olds (first team from my town to EVER win the state title and make a regional). That was one of the best summers of my life. Not sure I ever played better or was more locked in. And I did end up playing in college.

But that's not why I "know baseball." Sure it helps and gives you a much better baseline than someone who never played. But it's not everything.

I read everything I could get my hands on. I read baseball prospectus books, Moneyball, books on scouting, historical books (including a few on the 2004 red sox and their journey...especially from the FO POV). I talked to scouts. I was taught scouting by a former Rays scout.

Someone who never played would need to learn MORE, but they can close the gap in most areas.

This whole pissing contest between stats and scouts is silly. I believe in INFORMATION.

all that stuff.

It all matters. The only question is to what extent.

Speaking of Baseball Prospsctis, did you ever read Baseball Between The Numbers? It's outdated as fuck (2006), but still pretty interesting.

I bought that back in college. LOVED it.

They made a follow up one that I somehow missed until I bought it recently.

The stuff really makes you think. I also bought BP and Hardball Times Annuals for years.

What's the new one called? I'd love to check it out. When I was in Allentown with nothing to do for 8 months but read and work out, I probably read Bill James' 2001 Historical Baseball Abstract three times front to back. FUCKING UPDATE IT ALREADY JAMES- NO ONE KNOWS OR GIVES A SHIT ABOUT WIN SHARES
