Yup. I sure have and still do. From injuries to lower stats, that shit is real. If others besides Megatron break the curse, then I might start to change my mind, but until then....

Megatron inked a deal making him a Lion for life. Shits real. No idea why any football fan would want one of their players on the cover. You're just tempting fate.

Wait a sec...

Are you saying Megatron being a Lion for Life = Madden Curse equivalent? Does that negate breaking the curse?

No. Its just football. You dont need to be on the cover of Madden to have a down year or injury.

Yes, yes I am. The curse reared its ugly head in sneaky ways with CJ. Some thought his personal stats (pointless yardage totals anyway, he scored 5 freakin TDs that year.)meant he broke free from the spell. He didn't, he was just punished in a different way. Now he'll forever be linked to Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and Barry Sanders(twice).

But history is in the cover's favor. Yeah it could just be a coincidence, but to happen as often as it did, makes it believable.

Browns and Lions fans have had it rough. I always root for y'all. Skins fans have joined the ranks. I feel your pain.

I was actually very ok with Alfred Morris losing out to Andrew Luck in the bracket for the cover. We have enough problems without inviting a possible "curse" into the fold.

it is just superstition but 16 of the 17 madden cover guys have had bad or injured years directly after being on the cover. It is a weird enough occurrence that I did not vote for Lacy this year

I still carry a grudge with my fellow board members who lobbied for CJ. (They know who they are.)It's like spitting inta the wind or pulling the mask off the ol' Lone Ranger.

I think there is actual evidence to back up that the curse has some facts to it. Usually players that have made the cover have done so because they had an outstanding season the year before. The NFL has shown that when a player has a very good year especially with a very high snap count that the next year there is a better chance for injury than in most seasons. The human body can only take so much abuse before parts just start shutting down.

Except for the fact that there is a reason the players get to the cover... It is because they had such a good year previously... Only a handful of players can do back to back great seasons...

So as always, there is a more logical reason to the curse than MADDEN did it...

True and just like how many times a SB champ misses the playoffs the next year. Prolong season with injuries

Calvin didn't break the curse. He had an outstanding individual season. But Calvin is a team guy. The 2011 Lions were a playoff team and the hope was that they would be even better in 2012. Instead the team gave the fans and Calvin's record breaking season a 4-12 Cleveland Steamer. Even worse Barry was on half the covers last year and we had another deuce right on the chest of our dreams for 2013. No, he wasn't injured but if the curse is real, it certainly wasn't broken by Megatron.

I think its hilarious that it got as far as EA offering "generous" packages along with it to coax players into it.

Not sure I'm a believer because it sounds ridiculous. But hard to argue with the facts.

I think it’s all mostly coincidence but athletes can be pretty superstitious so I get the concern some might have.
