rayferrarotsn: Players and owners showing great patience to get to next meetings.. Solid idea, lots of time..my god, chop chop - it's past point of urgencyo se

The league needs to set a drop dead date to have a CBA in place or the season is cancelled in order to get any type of urgency. Of course, that would take a commissioner that actually has some stones.

It's Larry Brooks, mind you...

Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan is willing to join talks with NHL players in an effort to end the lockout that threatens the 2012-13 season in its entirety, a source close to the Rangers’ governor told The Post yesterday.

We are told Dolan, who was a primary figure on the NBA owners’ negotiating committee last year, signaled his desire to become involved in the NHL stalemate upon Gary Bettman’s suggestion it might prove beneficial for owners to converse directly with the players without the presence of league or union staff.

It is unknown whether the Garden CEO has officially volunteered his services to Bettman, with whom he has had essentially no personal relationship dating back to at least 2007 when the Garden urged the commissioner be ousted in conjunction with filing suit against the NHL in a dispute concerning website, digital rights, licensing and team merchandise control.

Wonder how the players feel about that...I'm hoping for a $10,000 bonus this year...10 large to those guys is a drop in the bucket.

@KatieStrangESPN: #CBA NHL, NHLPA have been in touch regarding potential players/owners-only meeting but nothing finalized yet

No urgency and looking more and more like no season...

Dash, I know that earlier you stated that you may be a naive kind of guy, you still believed there would be some sort of season. Now? Not so much?

I really didn't think both sides would be foolish enough to throw away an entire season again, Jimmy, but it's not looking good at the moment. The 3rd and 4th line guys are the ones that are really going to feel a double whammy, as not only are they going to see their pay reduced, but I really think some franchises may have to fold up shop once this is all said and done.

I also wonder how much the 3rd and 4th line players will benefit from the drawn out 'negotiations'. Maybe Neuvirth should have been quiet but I cannot say I completely disagree with his recent comments.

A crazy voice in me keeps saying this is something they want to do and then can blame tge players for not taking their deal to save those teams and can save face

based on Forbes data, owners going into NHL/PA meeting are 1, 5, 9, 12, 20, 23 on list of wealthiest (TML, Bs, Pens, Cgj, Wpg, Bolts).

That alone tells me that nothing will get done as a result of this. JJ will serve them stale pizza and flat, watered down beer (aka, Bud Light), then charge them for it afterwards and claim he was being nice bringing it in the first place.

I find it odd that some of the other big money teams (notably NYR, MTL) and big money owners (Anschutz, Pegula) seem to be a) absent from most of the negotiations and b) largely silent about anything that's been happening.

And you gotta wonder what the criteria is for ejection from the Boy's club? Is it actual operating losses, or will it be attendance? Will it be fan enthusiasm, or straight out owner compliance with the doctrine?

All I know is if Columbus has to fold and Phoenix continues, I am going to lose my fucking mind.

Might be time to re-visit the list of teams that have Jacobs' concessions operations. The ones that don't are probably first on the list to go.

Haven't Jacobs & Edwards been there the whole time already? Why not replace them with Snider and Dolan, what are they afraid of actually making progress?
