It's just another dog and pony show, Bettman suggesting this players/owners get-together is just a PR stunt, nothing will get accomplished.

I agree(even though I hope I'm wrong) but why not make it look promising at least. Jacobs is driving the bus with the hardliners on it now, so wouldn't removing him at the very least make it look like the NHL is trying something new?

Hey Wayne, Jeff, anybody know if this guy is credible (I think WBZ is out of Boston)

WBZ's Steve Burton reports that a deal to save the #nhl season could be announcement tomorrow or Wednesday #wbz

WBZ's Steve Burton reports #nhl talks have made great progress behind closed doors and it looks like the season will be salvaged #wbz

Call me crazy, but I'd wait for the actual meeting to take place first...

Same here for the news part....

Here is the ending to each news story about the Labor dispute....
"No progress made, still far apart and no new talks scheduled"

If that's a Boston Writer, I give him credit for not throwing in that every free agent in the world is dying to play in Boston and the Lightning are going to trade both Stamkos and Lecavalier for Lucic and then Lucic will retire and unretire so he can come back to Boston like everyone is dying to do.

I'm not surprised, nazzy.

/I'm starting to think Bill's middle name is Denial

Here's more dash:

Asked if there was ANY MORSEL of truth to WBZ report that deal is imminent, B.Daly: "Not even a single morsel..."

Burton is a pretty good reporter, but I'm not sure how credible his hockey sources are. I watch a different news channel. :noidea:

now sure if anyone is still following the cheap throat journal, but yesterday's was hilarious
Cheap Throat: The Diary of a Locked-Out NHLer, Day 65 | The Barnstormer

heh

Lot of unexplained scrapes and bruises. Also there’s a photo of me on my phone and it looks like I’m crowing next to a bonfire. Kind of awesome actually. There should be a series of lockout cards from Upper Deck or O-Pee-Chee. That would be my ‘12-13. Marchand’s would probably be him givin’ head to a quarterhorse or something. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Who am I to judge a Bruin. Inbred fucks.

When a guy actually goes on tv to make a report, it does add some credibility to his position (at least in my opinion):

Notice that Burton didn't say that either:

1) Lucic already knew about the 'secret meeting' that his sources claimed to know about.

Or

2) He told Lucic about it.

Therefore, all we have here IMO is a 'general comment' about Lucic's desire to see this Lockout end.

Kind of dishonest for him to use the Lucic clip like that. Burton is 'betting on the come', if you ask me. IF things play out like he intimates that they will, he looks like he got a great scoop: If not, he just goes "Oh, well - I guess that my source got it wrong".

I know this will never fly, but why don't they eliminate the cap floor or set it substantially lower so that teams aren't forced to spend money that they don't have? This requirement that the cap floor is set to be $16 million less than the cap ceiling was put in to try to create parity, but it's also one of the reasons why we have a lockout (as Herr Bettman has said countless times, we simply feel we are spending too much money on player salaries).

Also, there needs to be more control on ticket pricing throughout the league. Sure, everybody likes to see full buildings, but it's not doing much for the league when 5,000 tickets are freebies.
