The Tush Push has been around for how long?

Defense knows its coming and can't stop it... I say that's on the Defensive Coordinators and the players to actually stop it and not the league to "step in" and ban it

It’s not like this is brand new or impossible to stop …

just with the concept of who's lower wins have always been big part of football. Knowing the snap count helps greatly...SO WHAT

it's the pushing from behind remains my problem with the play.
It's really becoming a rugby play.

Three Yards and a cloud of dust.... move the chains.
Maybe all teams should put all their athletic beasts in position, the QB could be 255/260 as long as he can take the snap and push baby baby push.

22 play drives.

Football can't cheat the Eagles, copy it, refine it for your team, and let's kick some ass.
Pass rush has become karate and jujitsu
The fade route is a basketball play that rewards rebounding position
The rub concept at the goal line is similar to a basketball screen
Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks used rugby footage to teach tackling during the Legion of Boom days.

Just because a play or concept mirrors action in another sport it doesn’t mean that the play ceases to be a football play.

I would think it's totally chickenshit to ban a play because the other teams can't stop it. Figure out a way or STFU. But since it's the Eagles, fuck them, sounds like a great rule change

perhaps I wasn't clear with my opinion.

I'm saying all teams should copy the eagles and insert the package. I could see 1960 football where QB's throw the football 15 to 20 times a game.

Me?
I'd add the wing t package as well.
Might see three different QB's take snaps under center each week.

Play to Win Within The Rule.

That’s not how you stop a leverage play. You don’t go high to stop a player that has gone low. The player has to leave their feet. Any decent QB is going to play games with the snap count like the Eagles did. Luvu and the Commanders were just frustrated that they got their shit pushed in that day and were just trying to injure Hurts. That wasn’t a real attempt to stop the play.

Bullshit....Luvu is not a dirty player like fatass Carter....as in sticking his hand inside a players helmet and poking his eyes... ..

Now I agree with this banning of the push tush play, but Luvu was just trying to get a stop by jumping the oline.....

Luvu may be a dirty player actually, but...mad respect, he's a very good player. The best on the Commanders defense.

He knocked Hurts out of the earlier game, driving his head into the ground during a tackle that led to a concussion. So, he ain't no boy scout IMO but I would take him anyday on my squad, the guy plays with a lot of passion.

That dog don’t hunt. When Luvu is trying to be WalMart brand Wolverine that game is already over. If they had any success stopping the play it came from the apex of the wedge at DT creating inside force to keep the bubble from being created and then personnel cleaned it up as the DTs established a new line of scrimmage. That’s the only way to win on QB sneak. It’s why the Chiefs stopped Josh Allen. The only way to stop the play is to win in the A gaps.
I’m not necessarily hating on the play. I’m just saying the egg head qb is fair game on that play

Maybe...it's the player? On what other team would the QB be by far the best guy to get an inch?

Odd.

Didn't GB stop the play twice in the Brazil opener?

And why hasn't a team tried tackling/taking the legs out from Goedert and any other player that is 'pushing'?
Teams need to stop trying point of attack methods and understand the physics of why the play is successful.

Some rumors on Packers radio I heard Tuesday is that Roger Goddell asked his friend Murhpy (CEO of Packers) to broach the subject.... he has done this in the past at times.

This is something apparently Goddell is looking to change in the years ahead (not expected this year).

It does not sound as this was talked within the Packers organization... Gutey (GM) at his press conference at combine Tuesday was asked about proposal and he replied... he heard about it, but it had not been discussed internally.

I don’t mind it. They’re just shortening that rb/qbs career

Just a quick reminder: even if they outlaw the Tush Push (only because one team perfected the play) the Eagles will still be the best QB sneak team in the league. It’s about a great interior OL, an offensive line coach who has perfected how to teach this play for a leverage advantage, and a QB who can squat over 600 pounds. I’m almost hoping they ban it so that this can be proven over the course of an entire season.

I'm surprised there's not more knee injuries on the play.

They should go back to the days when an offensive player pushing forward a ball carrier is illegal and a penalty.

You can still do a QB sneak. You just cant push the ball carrier (in this case the QB) or the pile that he is in.

It will take out the tush push as Phili runs it and it will also take out the OL flying down the field and hitting the pile that has become the norm lately.

That is the way the rule was for most of my life and it worked out just fine before that (rule was changed in 2005).

The first time this play was up for review it was shot down but what came out of it was a plan to study the play for increased injury risk. Over a whole season they weren’t able to find any data that showed the play contributed to a higher frequency of injury.

Yeap... I would agree that Eagles would still be successful with QB sneak... OL and Hurts make it work.
