He is 35 and his fastball is way down.
He doesn't have the ability to pitch a full year and then into the postseason. I hate it, but he should be done in LA.

Unless they pay him 20 million again and leave him off the postseason roster.
LOL at this take.

Is his contract up? Why would he retire after having a good year?
Kershaw?
Yes, he signed 1 year 20 million deal.
Urias contract is up.

Kershaws shoulder is giving him problems per sources and he is just falling apart.
LA should move on because he can't pitch in the postseason and getting more and more injury prone.

Do tell us...what did I say that was funny?

Is it because he can't pitch anymore in the postseason? Last night proved that.

Is it because his fastball is down?
He was barely hitting 90 last night.

Or was it me being sarcastic about signing him to just pitch in the regular season?

Aren't you the same poster who posts on the commanders board?

So LA should resign Kershaw to another 20 million dollar contract even though his health is declining and can't get 2 outs in a postseason game?

Yes, I thought I recognized you. Lucky for us you post everywhere...smh.

Your reputation proceeds you...lol
I love when non dodger fans try to lecture actual dodgers fans...sigh

Well, you are a poorly informed one who doesn't watch the games or have watched Kershaw over the past few seasons.

If you are a fan, which I give you the benefit of the doubt, why should Friedman sign Kershaw again given his inability to stay healthy or perform well in the postseason.

His fastball is down
His innings pitched is down
He makes 20 million a year
The LA staff is depleted.

What have I said that is wrong?

And in the playoffs Kershaw ain't much help

Yeah they are in deep shit. Dbacks with the significant advantage in the rotation when you realize they can go with Kelly & Gallen in 4 of the possible 5 games

LA will counter with rookies
Miller
Pepiot
Either Lynn or Sheehan

I don't care what DJ says. Kershaw can't see the field.

Of course they will.
They have no idea what they are doing right now with the rotation. They will put Kershaw back out there and he will get lit up again. If they put Kershaw back out there, Roberts should be fired.

You really think the doggie front office is going to complain that their first ballot, all time great HOF SP who had a SOLID season will take the mound in the playoffs?

I don’t know what you are smoking, but pass it this way…

Yep. I don’t know how they can avoid starting Kershaw if this goes 5 games.

His fastball velocity is in line with what it's been the last six years.

2018: 91.0
2019: 90.4
2020: 91.6
2021: 90.7
2022: 90.8
2023: 90.9

He has a 149 ERA+ over the last six seasons. He has become more HR prone, but he still has a good strikeout rate and doesn't walk many batters. I don't think he's an elite pitcher anymore, but to say they should move on from him (especially with their shaky rotation situation going into 2024) is fucking asinine.

So, the fact that he can't pitch in the playoffs and Roberts admitting he can't go past 5 innings anymore is not a concern?

He could not get 2 outs and he is having shoulder problems at 35.

What is the Dodgers main problem? Playoff baseball. They are the regular season champs...year after year (top 3 in 2023) but cannot put it together in the playoffs. Kershaw will get lit up again in Game 4 if he starts...I can assure you. He doesn't have it anymore.

If that is the main problem, why on earth would you resign him again, knowing he is NOT dependable in the playoffs and his health is failing?

I don't think some of you watch the games and simply look at the box score. I love Kershaw, but it is time to move on...unless Friedman is content with early playoff exits.

If you are going to address the 2024 rotation, which they should, they need to start with healthy pitchers given the status of May, Gonsolin, and Buehler. Kershaw is simply not dependable at this point.

Again, I love non-Dodger fans trying to lecture LA fans like we don't know what the situation is. THanks for stopping by!

I noticed you didn't address my questions earlier...figures

Lets sign Kershaw to a 10 year deal. Why not?

Roberts already said he will start him in game 4
And the results will be similar. Not as bad hopefully, but the DBacks would love that match up....again.

Bad decision by Roberts.

Game 1 proved my point.

The hero worship needs to stop. I am interested in what Kershaw can do...not what he has done. He is a HOF pitcher...but those days are gone and anyone can see that.

It's time to move on and I think Friedman knows this. They need that 20 million to sign pitchers who are healthy and who can pitch in the playoffs. Giving Kershaw the Wainwright treatment will not help the organization.
