I was surprised to see JV throwing 94 MPH fastballs in the first inning. He usually starts around 91-92 and works his way up. He consistently threw mid-90's four-seamers all game, touching 96-97 a couple of times. *Knock wood*, he looks as healthy to start a season as he has in at least 3 years.
