I know I will need to repeat this for the man who said he'd never be back.....

"So Vice....Did Ausmus say that VMart might not be ready?" Simple Yes or No.

Wait til slinkyredfoot sees this stuff

It's never that simple ... when you sign an older player, shit happens. Oh wait, your starting this just to geek up @MiamiVice. Sorry dude, it's not that big of a feat.

No...LOL. The guy has an "addiction"!

But this return after "leaving" is nothing. Vice left the AL Central thread TWICE in one day...and never did really leave, either time. Oh, I guess he was gone for a few minutes each time....but, hell....he may have just gone to the bathroom.

Seems Vice WAS right about one thing. They are saying Parnell has the inside track to get a bullpen spot if Alex Wilson isn't ready to start the season.

Good news for Tiger fans (bad news for Buck Farmer fans)

Sanchez pitched 3 hitless innings, with 3 Ks and 1 walk. Now to see if he can get out of bed tomorrow.

It'll be OK, Buck....they love ya in Toledo!!!!

About 10 spring games to go. Bullpen arms need to start looking better.

Blaine Hardy, Justin Wilson, Drew VerHagen, Mark Lowe, and Bruce Rondon have not looked real sharp so far. All have given up more hits than innings pitched. Alex Wilson is questionable for opening day. Ryan and Rodriguez have looked good and Parnell passable.

Avila should have his eyes on the waiver list. AlAl and Phil Coke could/should be on it. Joba?

Pitchers use spring training as a time to work on pitches... they aren't throwing the same pitches they will in the regular season. Its one of the reason there are so many HR.

True. If they need to work on their changeup, for example, they will throw a lot more changeups in a given spring outing ... and the hitters will be ready for changeups.

Blaine Hardy, Justin Wilson, Drew VerHagen, Mark Lowe, and Bruce Rondon have not looked real sharp so far. All have given up more hits than innings pitched.

See above. If they are struggling with control or still getting pummeled during the last week of spring training, I'll be a little more worried.

Which is what I said...10 more games....time for them to tighten things up. I realize that pitchers like Lowe, Wilson, and probably Hardy have a spot in the bullpen all but guaranteed. So they aren't too concerned with their stats, but each should have 2-3 appearances before opening day, so it probably is time to start using their A stuff more. As for VerHagen, Rondon, and Parnell.....they need to worry. Phil Coke or Joba might be looking over their shoulder!
:)

its not about "using their a stuff". its spring fucking training. the games don't count. its about throwing to live batters and working on pitches they need to work on. who gives a fuck about stats in spring training for pitchers? I am more concerned with a batters stats than I am a pitchers in spring training... pitchers are throwing pitches they need to work on... batters are still trying to hit the ball.

moya has looked fucking outstanding so far on a side note. his k rate is around 17% through 12 games.

Yes, I'd say over the last 10 games of spring that pitchers "on the bubble" need to start worrying about showing enough to come north. Established pitchers like Verlander and such are more than likely just tweaking mechanics and working on 1 or 2 certain pitches.

Moya has hit well. I suppose if VMart isn't ready to start the season (I know Vice said I was wrong)...Moya could have a shot at taking his place. But otherwise, I can't see adding a questionable defensive outfielder to the lineup, for a couple of weeks. Until Maybin returns, it will be Upton, Gose, and JD. I'd prefer a fourth outfielder that could fill in at any of the three OF spots, even if it is only for two weeks. Thus Collins or Bernard would be my choice.

Howie....you are lucky!!!! Vice is giving you "Winner" ratings on your posts. Burf and I are getting ''dislikes''. But don't get big-headed Howie. Those ''likes'' and ''winners'' he also gives to Dougplayer on the AL Central thread.....so you can see where that puts you!

(BTW...With one slip up Howie, you could end up being another dabums. LOL)

You also may have noticed that a poster named slinkyredfoot posted the other day. Made fun of Vice. No "dislikes" from Vice for him. Reason? Vice is afraid of him. :)

Not falling victim to the "drama", either way.

By the way, I just said I don't get too up or down about Spring Training starts, but damn -- Anibal with four no-hit innings today! And more important: pain-free.

Regardless, Ausmus says he will use Verlander, Zimmermann and Pelfrey as the 1-2-3 to start the season, and push Anibal to Monday, April 11.

Double negative = a positive? Two wrongs make a right? Hell, I dunno.
