Do you think Sanchez would have value to any other team? He will be owed $16.8mil next year and then a $5mil buyout. I wonder if Detroit picked up a little more than half of that total and only asked for a warm body in return, if some other team would take a gamble for one year, say for $8mil, out of their pocket? At least Detroit could recoup some of their money.

Three runs over three games, all on solo home runs. The Tigers manufactured zero runs in the series. Oh-fer with RISP.

Yeah, the lineup is injury-depleted, but there are still enough good-to-great hitters playing that this piss-poor production is inexcusable.

STARTING PITCHERS
Detroit Tigers
LHP Matt Boyd (4-2, 4.16 ERA)

Boston Red Sox
RHP Clay Buchholz (4-9, 5.66 ERA)
Detroit is 3-0 against the Red Sox this season, sweeping them in Boston late last month.

--Matt Boyd has pitched quite well for Detroit lately. He's 4-0 with a 2.16 ERA since being called up from the minors in early July.

--Veteran Clay Buchholz is making his second start in place of Steven Wright, who's on the disabled list.
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers will add another outfielder to the roster Thursday after Tyler Collins was hit on his right knee with a 99 mph fastball.

Collins left Wednesday's game after the knee started to swell. X-Rays were negative and the team said he he's day-to-day.
Upton is 1-for-31 in his last eight games, with nine strikeouts and three doubles plays during that span. Over the last 14 games, he's 5-for-50 with 15 strikeouts and five double plays.

Presley, 31, has played parts of seven seasons with four different teams in the major leagues.

Presley started the season with the Milwaukee Brewers but he chose to become a free agent on July 1 rather than accept an outright assignment to the minor leagues. He signed with the Tigers a week later and has hit .298 (.788 OPS) in 33 games with the Mud Hens.

I am sure The Avila's and The Ausmus' will be sending Christmas cards to Justin Upton.

Who would ever thought that 2/3 of a starting Tiger outfield would include the names Andrew Romine and Alex Presley?

Ah, the winds of change!

It seems that one time #1 prospect, Steven Moya, has become somewhat irrelevant. Brought up for two games to fill the roster, did not play, and then sent back to Toledo. He was replaced by a 31 year old vagabond, now with his 6th team, and has really always been a bench or platoon player.

Handwriting - wall, Mr. Moya

Looked like he was starting to bust out of his funk after hitting .280 in July. Guess not. Right back into the septic tank.

Well hey, the Tigers actually scored a runner from third with less than two outs. Wonder of wonders.

A lot of positive talk about McGehee's fielding at 3B. Could it be that watching two years of Castellanos manning third, Tiger fans have forgotten what 'normal' defense at third looks like?

And yet, there's a reason McGehee has bounced back and forth between the majors and minors (and Japan) his whole career.

McGehee career:
-5 DRS / 2.27 RF/9 (versus 2.53 League Average)

Castellanos career:
-18 DRS / 2.40 RF/9 (versus 2.62 League Average)

Both are below average fielders. If you throw out Nick's rookie year, when he was absolutely putrid (and coming off a minor league season where they were trying to convert him to an outfielder), the two are even closer. But Nick is, and will be, a much better hitter.

F------- Alex Wilson. F------ the Tiger bullpen. F-------- the hitters.

Clay Buchholz can't get anyone out this season, and he totally owns us today. Embarrassing.

3-3. Just had to get Buchholz off the mound.

I believe that's Cabrera's 1,000th RBI as a Tiger.

You cannot stop Andrew Romine...you can only hope to contain him.

Hold your breath, it's F-Rod time.

If the Tigers don't hit HR, it takes about 12 hits and a handful of walks for them to score a decent amount of runs for a win.

Aaaaaaand, right on cue, F-Rod walks the 8-hole hitter.

They go from 3 solo home runs in 3 games to a game with 9 singles and 1 double. It would be nice to get a couple of each in the same game.
