The difference between regular season and playoffs is time off.....Players get a day off every few days.....Thats plenty of time for Sanchez or Porcello to recover from 2 or 3 innings of pitching.

I would like to see Lobstien as a lefty out of the pen in the post season along with your gang...

As long as Coke, Nathan and Joba are forced to stay in the locker room and never suit up and not allowed on the bench, I'm ok with that.

tigers got away with one today. the questionable play about the tag up is not reviewable. I will be interesting to hear the umpires postgame comments as to why they reversed the call. Using the video board is a no no. However since the Royals manager did not play the rest of the game under protest, not much that can be done.

adrian you are correct. But the simple fact is they got the call right. That's all that matters to me even in defeat that the correct call was made. Today it was and it just so happened it was in the Tigers favor.

The Royal never went back and touched the bag after Kinsler caught it.......Everything else after that is semantics and politics.

They got the call right today, and that's refreshing.

They also mentioned that it had something to do with the NY office.....Kinda like the NFL when challenged I'm guessing.

It won't be long before Umps wont be on the field and everything will be done with the all seeing EYE from HQ in New York......

Muzz. The issue is the people in NY told the umps (correctly) that it isn't reviewable. However they were showing it on the big replay board for all to see. I can't imagine when the crew chief is on the phone to NY the other umps aren't watching the board with everyone else. I just want to know without video review how they decided to overturn the call when the 3B umpire said (incorrectly) the runner tagged up. Of course the question has to be asked is why the home team would show a replay that can only hurt you the home team.

Agreed. But will you also agree after all is said and done even with the semantics of the rule, the play was ruled correctly?

No, the question that has to be asked is: How did not one of FOUR umps not see the obvious no-tag in the first place??? Incompetence. Complete incompetence at doing their job.

That's exactly what it was and I don't care the circles or hoops that had to be jumped through to get the call right. I would hate to have some stupid rule like a Coach has to call a challenge not the 3rd base coach etc etc or whatever it was....They can discuss it all day long on who has authority to call or not call a play as long as everyone see's that Royal head back to 3rd base and not touch it after the Kinsler catch.....They got it right today and that should be refreshing for all fans. Regardless of how they came to the conclusion.

Funny how us fans knew the correct call long before the umpires huddled to figure out how to handle it.

This is baseball, it should be easy, I can only imagine how the Govt jacks things up before a replay.

this is why we have replays. Can't blame the umps here. According to Mlive only hernan perez on the Tigers bench noticed he didn't retouch. Of course the problem is he doesn't speak the chosen language of our country. So he informed Omar Visquel who notified Ausmus.

After the game the umps said they used a consenus of opinion and not the replay board. This is just as bad as when the umps in the Tigers/Angels and the Rays/Blue Jays game were allowed to challenge after the pitcher was on the rubber.

In the end they got the play right, but not allowing a play like this not to be reviewed needs to be changed.

:agree::10:
This is 100% all that needs to be said about it.......I believe the MLB will come to the same conclusion and adjust accordingly.....I'm just glad the play was called correctly and maybe changes can be made because it really sucks when it decides a playoff game or WS game.

I mentioned when it happened that the Tiger that saw it needed a pay raise....adrian posted that it was Hernan Perez....Well give that guy a raise or some credit....He might have won the game from the bench....

I just knew it couldn't have possibly been Geno because that fat lard might have been on the phone to Little Ceasars Pizza which would be odd because you would think working for Mr. I. he would get that stuff for free.

When it's playoff time, Play your best players as much as you can and leave the junk on the Bench.....I don't want to see a bunch of Tigers in the postseason......Pay attention Ausmus......The Angles might be teaching you something.

I would have to say that should be reviewable next year, if not by playoffs this year. With all the stupid stoppages you would think a play with run scoring implications should be a reviewable play.

Not sticking up for umps... I would imagine human reaction was to follow throw and keep eye on Sal's feet. Still wrong, but would like to see tight aerial view of whole play.

I would imagine that had Garret not went out...it still would be 4 man.

Still same mindset as you are saying, just his hand got forced into it.

That's ok and fine.....Then what do the Tigers have to do to force Ausmus' hand into it?.....The Pen sucks.....I can pull a Nancy Kerrigan incident if that's what it takes to keep some of these shits off the mound.
