The Tigers are definitely in a bind if Peralta gets hit with 50-100 games. Ward is still on the DL with a bum heel. The Tigers will get bent over for a SS at this point.

I am assuming that this Biogenesis stuff willnot come to a quick conclusion. I would not be surprised if the players association puts up a legal fight that even allows those named to continue to play. Just my guess here....if the MLB can't announce punishments in the next few days....this will play out AFTER the All-Star game.

Just my personal view...but I'd wait to find a permanent solution to SS. As you said, the club would pay through the nose trying to get a top flight SS now. Find a good fielding SS, at low cost, or move Infante to SS and find a good fielding 2B.

The cost of getting Tulo would be more than prohibitive. He is the face of their club. The way he is playing this year....Colorado would be asking for something like Scherzer and Jackson in return....since Tulo is still relatively cheap per year. (They have him signed until 2020 and still owe him over a $120 mil.)

Didn't Tuiasosopo come up to the majors as a shortstop? Don't know if he was any good defensively when he played there, but just sayin'.

lets not get carried away. By the time any of this goes to arbitration it will probably be the off season. I question how much is concrete here. If braun got scott free on appeal for a positive test, how much success can mlb expect when the evidence is the word of a guy looking at jail time. I certainly hope MLB has more than one guys coerced testimony.

He was a middle infielder until the Tigers got ahold of him, I believe. He must have seriously bulked up during the offseason. And for the record, Jhonny P getting suspended concerns me far less than the bullpen. I know he's hitting out of his mind, but he's still slow with a not that great arm. If he were at .250 people would notice his range a lot more. I can't, since it has bothered me since the Red Sox series, three years ago, when we got him as a third baseman from Stinktown.
