saw this on a twitter account.

JL probably the first manager ever to allow in a close game a batter hitting 173 to hit with runners on first and second and no outs (with a catcher on the bench hitting 308) and then pinch hit the start of the next inning a guy hitting 173 for a guy hitting 270.

Tigers are designed NOT to play small ball. From the manager, to the middle of the order, to the SS.....this team was made for the BIG INNING. You have guys with little speed and (I'd bet) poor bunting skills. Trying to change from boppers to manufacturing runs might be asking too much. Sort of like trying to drive a 1960s Cadillac on an off road race course. This Tiger team would have been a bigger force in the early 60s. An offense much like the 1961 Tigers and Yankees.

I'm not going to argue any of that......Just watching the O's play......They turned short singles into doubles and we turn deep doubles into singles.....We are truly molasses.....

We leave runs on the field every game, where fast teams earn runs that shouldn't be there due too speed.

It works the same way when we have a guy on 2B.....We get a hit and advance the guy to 3B.....Most teams get a hit on us and advance that run across the plate.

this is the reason the tigers have the largest run scored differential and only the fifth best record.

Jeremy Bonderman was not very sharp in his return for Seattle. He took the loss, giving up 7 earned runs on 9 hits (3 HR). Lasted 4.2 innings.

Can't teach speed......but bunting and smart base running you can teach......you don't bat guy hitting .170 hit in the situations Adrain mentioned......Coke sucks......Muzz said it was a waste using Smyly yesterday with the big lead.....sure would have been nice to have had him today in a close game.....this is not rocket science.....it is baseball 101.....

Ya, would have much rather seen Downs, Coke and Dotel yesterday.......JL is a moron and played Smyly in a blowout.....

That's why I was so irate.

I think if someone will keep Jim away from the hot dog vendor, the Tigers will be a lot better off.

JL also had the nerve to say well Coke pitched. Coke now with an ERA of 6.06. he admitted to leaving porcello in too long. But not for having smyly pitch yesterday forcing him to pitch Coke and Downs today.

Rick Porcello has to honestly hate Leyland. He gets garbage starters behind him almost every time out. And today he gets Phil Coke to relieve him. Way to waste six high quality innings Jimmy. (Smyly finishing out today's game would have been nice.....)

Why or why aren't Raburn and Inge available? And Geno is out of sight! Without them...the 'blame game' is going to get awful boring around here. lol. Every loss will somehow be decoded to show that Leyland is a bum. Options - there must be options. lol

(It is beyond my comprehension that DD and PizzaBoyII don't see the same thing you guys all see. Perhaps there is a conspiracy 'afoot'?)

lol. You might be right....Dotel may have been the better choice.

muzz....just a heads up...Austin Jackson is on the DL too. And....Boesch, Inge, and Raburn don't play with the Tigers any longer. Also, Magglio Ordonez has retired. I hope that helps in the future.

:peace:
