Brahmsian....it is called ''scapegoating''. Or, for some, it is that old saying "the grass is always greener.....". With the advent of so much Fantasy Baseball....every fan thinks they can manage an MLB team better than the men that do. Sadly, most of them have a hard enough time 'managing' their bowel movements. :)

Good luck to the Sox against the Cardinals.
Whatever it's called it's idiotic, and it's a lot older than fantasy baseball.

kengel16, Leland's led your team to 2 World Series in 7 years, just missed doing it again this season, and you want to fire him?

IDIOT!

He doesn't have a contract man. There's no need to fire him. But way to call a dude an idiot without being knowledgable on the topic yourself. (Looking forward to Hammer booting iffy, again)

Bad defense +
Weak bullpen +
Poor baserunning =
NO WORLD SERIES!

Sucks for Detroit but a victory for baseball.

Big decisions coming up for the Tigers. Trade Scherzer now????? Do they resign Benoit or give the closers' job to Rondon? Or do they get another closer via trade or free agency? Infante? Resign him or look elsewhere? Left field question...Costellanos or who??? And of course the Leyland question. Will the Tigers use him as a scapegoat and not offer him a contract?

Leyland is not to blame for our Red Sox being better fielders than your players.

Your front office and scouting staff may need some new faces, but Leyland did the best
he could with what he had, and got his team closer to the WS than it had any business being.

You should be thanking him for that, not talking about firing him!

Leyland doesn't have "Verlander faith" in Scherzer yet.

But shame on you Smokey for not letting this year's CY determine the Tigers' fate.

I haven't been on the thread the last few games because it was ruined by the powers that be let Iffy back....the same shit everyone complained about earlier in the season all over again......It was a good season guys just short.....lots of things to talk about but the injury to Miggy sure slowed this team down......different look without that big threat every time he came up......

2015: Miggy back to 1B, Prince to DH and VMart.....that depends on 2014 production but I'd like to see him behind the plate more often. We should still be looking for a 3B, IMO.

Tigers need to start planning not only for 2014, but maybe post-2015 as well. No assurance that Miggy will 're-up' with Detroit. Detroit's window of opportunity is/was 2012 to 2015. After that the BIG money guys will either be gone or over the hill. DD's job is to provide a quality cast of players to surround the big boys. So far...close but no cigar. Tigers should still be one of the teams to beat next year.

It's Leyland. And no, he didn't "lead" them to it. He's widely considered to be among the worst managers in the league for a reason.

Where did you see or hear that? Sounds like some crap that you made up. If you have quotes you can reference too....I will admit that you are NOT full of crap.

When they annointed Rondon the closer before ST I knew it was a disaster waiting to happen. He barely had a track record in AAA, and none in the majors. I felt that he needed the baby steps at the major league level. Start him in 7th inning type role, and then work his way up to set-up and then closer as he proves he can do it. Basically, what they did with him after the 2nd time he was called up. Didn't even warrant the talk of closer yet. Not for the start of 2013, at least. So to not have a back-up plan was beyond stupid, and I blame DD for that. DD regularly neglects the bullpen in the off-season, but he took it to a new low this year.

LF - they are set up to allow Castellanos to win it in ST. If he doesn't, then they do what they did this year until Castellanos is ready.

Infante - realistically can't do much better at 2B. Remember how bad it was before he got here? They MUST bring him back.

Scherzer - you talk trade, but if a great trade doesn't present itself then you do nothing. Personally I hope they keep Max after next year. Most on here know that I have been a huge Max supporter for quite a while. Certainly he drove the price up considerably with this season, though. Easpecially after he wins the Cy Young award.

i really do not see a Max trade happening. A team looking for a SP will go after david Price first. he has one more year of team control than Max and isn't represented by Boras. So an extension could be had. If the Tigers can't get an extension done with Max than no one can. If DD is blown away by a deal then it might happen, however DD is one to trade prospects for established players, not selling.
