Loss falls on leyland, why? The pen is their weak spot and scherzer is hot. I mean good on the red sox to battle back and win it, but if jl doesnt have to always be overmanaging they would have won the game. Hopefully he has learned his fucking lesson but i doubt it.

Ronnie jl knows the pen has inferior arms and knows max is dealing. The loss falls squarely on him. Anyhow at least we head to det knotted up.

But we already know the pen sucks howie, you stick with whats wrking and that was scherzer. The red sox have a legit lineup, theres not a guy in that pen i want to see over any of our starters unless they have no choice.

I am trying to put myself in Leyland's shoes in the 8th inning Sunday. OK, you ask your stater (Scherzer) if he has another inning left in his arm. He says he is about spent. Does JL say, "Tough shit. You are going back out there!" Does he try and talk Scherzer into one more inning? Or does he go to the pen? The pen worked well the game before...so does he try them again? OR, does he say, "The guys in the pen are inferior and can't be trusted to hold a 4 run lead."????
It is awful easy to blame a manager when the players don't perform as we had hoped. I think Leyland did what he thought was right, but it/they failed. Sadly, JL will have to take the blame heaped on him by the thousands of couch managers as well as those who think they know how to manage because they play fantasy games. I am sure JL would LOVE to go back and replay the end of the game - using the same 20/20 hindsight that his critics get to employ. (And I'd bet those relief pitchers wish the same thing)

I wonder if Veras, Smyly, AlAl, and Benoit think it was Leyland's fault the Tigers lost the game? Do you think Jackson and Hunter are sitting at their barstool, blaming JL for the loss?

I think veras and company are wondering why they get pulled after letting one guy get on. Geez let em pitch to more batters than one or two.

Has nothing to do with couch managers....

Its baseball 101. Winning run on 3rd base....nobody out........you walk the bases loaded to set up a force at home.

Why pull veras after ONE hit?

Look how many relievers he used last night to record THREE outs

You bring up jackson struggling? But i bet jimmy slots him right back into leadoff. Why not try infante there and ajax ninth? Why give ajax more AB's in a game then better hitters?

Think about it.....who in the BP really got rocked?

Veras gets an out, gives up a hit

Smyly walks his ONLY batter

Alal gets an out gives up a hit

Benoit gives up the big HR

Maybe if jimmy just let veras come in and face the first 4 batters and save benoit for the 9th, we might had won. But stop pulling pitchers after one guy gets on.

I would have preferred Porcello start the 8th and finish the game. Instead half the bullpen was gone before he came on a got Boston to hit two groundballs. (Had the infield not been in the Salty single would have been a sharp ground ball) If the game carried on Phil Coke and Fister would have had to go indefinitely. It was a perfect storm of stupidity from the skipper.

OK, I'm nosy. How many here are baseball fans first and are watching the Dodgers/Cards? How many are hooked on Monday Night Football...no matter who is playing (Colts/Chargers, in this case)? I have not given up hope for a Tigers and Cards rematch. Of course, TV moguls want to see the Red Sox and Dodgers face it other - more commercial $$$$ can be gotten with that, I'd guess.

Nice to see ya iffy, you are the only one that would be concerned about Tiger fans giving a shit about MNF football more then baseball.........

Raburn blows, the Daimond backs still suck mule cock and I will be watching MNF and wake up and catch the box score of the Dodgers and Cards game in the morning.

Hammer iffy's back!!!!!!! :laugh3:

I look at it like this, no doubt Leyland totally mismanaged the BP.. But despite that, wasn't this group atleast serviceable last year? How the hell are they a fucking cum dumpster all of a sudden.. I think some of this blame goes on the BP as well.. Let's start with that down the middle POS changeup Benoit threw.. That guy is quickly turning into a Goat lately..

Mitch Williams on MLB Network made a great point.. Leyland should have let Veras face another batter.. He stated that Smyly was wasted and brought our too early and that the entire 8th innings was managed like they had a 1 run lead.. Could not agree with this more..

Hard to tell if the Bull Pen was a POS shit that game......I only saw a few pitches from each reliever......A walk by one, a hit by one, a walk, A homer, I forget......I only saw pitchers coming in to throw 3 to 8 pitches.....Who really knew what bull pen guys sucked? Did anyone of them actually have a chance?......Hell, add the total pitches and time they warmed up out there and the pitch count between all of them probably didn't cover one Scherzer inning.

BTW regarding the Cardinals vs Dodgers series.. Jon Jay is one of the worst outfielders I've ever seen.. Dude was a clown show in game 3..

This site appears to be very anti-Leyland. I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

How about this: What is the opinion on resigning Jhonny Peralta? Move Iglesius to 2nd or put Peralta in LF? Or just let him walk and resign Infante?

Gene Lamont is a fat slob! DD and Ilitch could of fired him years ago and put all that money towards filling pot holes in the city........Seriously, how many pot holes could that guys paycheck cover?

Booyaah !!!!! Road troubles are over by firing one guy! and donating that money to road repair........How about Kilpatrick? Hahaha....

To your question, Iggy will be the SS and Johnny will be moving on. Infante will still be here unless a trade arises.

Leyland should have left Veras in. no doubt. Leyland gets part of blame for game 2.

but it is good Tiger nation. sure we GAVE away game 2.
we split in Boston. Plus we have verlander on the mound for game 3.
its all good Tiger nation.

we should be up 2-0. BUT this Tiger team doesn't do things the easy way. They win when they have to. this is our 3rd straight ALCS...
