So jimmy lets JV throw 140 pitches and hes signed long term?

But pulls max who has one more year with us?

Shouldnt he worry more about the guy thats gonna be here for the long run? I think its all BS....In october you should be able to not worry about a pitch count. It will be great when in 5 yrs JV's arm falls off, but max will be fresh while shutting down the tigers team playing somewhere else.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. May have been the worst 2 innings of managing that I've ever seen.

Through 2011, it was on Max. He did throw a lot of pitches per inning back then. But since May 2012, when everything seemed to click for Max, it has been on Leyland, just as I've mentioned before.

Ill bag on New Mexico all day everyday if need be. But it's still Leylands fault for bringing him in a game that matters. Benoit made a bad mistake against a great hitter. But without him this team probably didn't make the playoffs. Can't say the same for Jimmy.

You're right about the bp. We used all of our best RP's, and they ALL failed. But we all know that our shaky bp has the ability to do this at any time.

You just cant get caught with your pants down and not have a lefty ready to face THE ONE HITTER who could kill us...big papi....i was hoping for a walk. Guess the tigers should had traded for a left handed reliever for that situation since smyly is there to face elsbury in a 5-1 game.

He messed up by letting them all face one or 2 batters before pulling them....veras shouldnt had been pulled after one hit. That started the mudslide......well taking max out did.

Yep. When Smyly came in to face Ellsbury, my first thought was that he would face the two righties that follow also because certainly they would want their only decent lefty RP to pitch to one of the most dangerous lefty hitters in the game in that situation and setting. Silly me; what the heck was I thinking?

Walking JE was a major letdown from Smyly. The guy had done zilch and Drew couldn't throw strikes. Scary thing, Phil will get a look from the skipper soon now.

It's a thought, and knowing how much Leyland loves "the numbers" I'm surprised he didn't roll with that one. But, despite the numbers, I wouldn't trust Coke. I don't trust him at all, and hope he is no longer a Tiger next year. I'd rather have Benoit face Ortiz.
