The pitching has been awesome so far this series and hopefully it keeps up.. But the offense is bad and frankly for a second postseason in a row... I think this proves the theory that an offense built around power and XBHs is not the wisest way to go...

I agree the way they lost this was aggravating.. I figured it would be JV getting lit up or something, but this feels even worse IMO.. Personally I wouldn't be as motivated if I got NO run support.. SO big kudos to him..

the only way the tigers win this series is if the offense generates enough offense that only benoit/Smyly and occasionally veras pitch. Bringing in porcello to pitch to a lefty is on JL/DD not having another lefty in the pen. If games become a battle of the pens the A's have the advantage.

And Smyly has not pitched very well the last couple of months. Really, Benoit is the only one in the pen that can be trusted right now. The A's clearly have the advantage in the bullpens. It isn't really all that close.

I get your point but like I said, if the offense was just average or even just below average, this would not be an issue.. It's completely on the offense and the BP has been fine..

I was concerned last night when Smyly came in. But was happy to see his velocity up. Seeing him tonight, for the second game in a row, seemed like pushing his luck. But what can you do? He's all you've got to go to in that situation.

Ricky having lefties hit over 300 is brought in to face a lefty in a crisis situation. no lefties outside of Smyly in the pen. that is a major problem. Downs holding lefties to a 215 BA sitting at home. wasn't even brought up on sept 1. waited until middle of september to bring him up after he sat at home for half a month. This is a major problem. putting your faith in Ricky and AL to get out lefties late in games is not gonna work.

I personally didn't think BBQ deserved a roster spot for the playoffs.. Also did they actually allow 2E on the roster as well? That would be a joke.. But my concern was the offense.. Sonny Gray wasn't even that good and he still pitched a shutout.. Not good at all..

Look I know people state hitting coaches are not responsible for much, but where are the adjustments.. It seems they just let do fucking whatever.. I don't think that should be the case in the playoffs when you know all the games will be tight and all the pitching you're going up against will probably be the best offered..
