Detroit Tigers Ongoing 2013 Thread

Anybody think the Tigers or the A's have a chance of catching the Sox for best record? Besides having tix for the A's first two playoff games, I really want to see the two teams play but am getting a little nervous.

Tough to make up 4 games with only 10-11 left to play, though the Tiger schedule is a relative cakewalk compared to Boston's. The thing that will seal it is if the Tigers clinch the ALC on say Sunday. It might be too tempting for Leyland to rest Cabrera and some others for the closing 6-game road trip.

Idk if I'd rather have Boston or Oakland in round one. I'd definitely rather have the Rays or Indians. We'd have to basically win out though.

The worst thing is, he put Dirks in to hit with men on base, which is almost a guaranteed strikeout or pop-up. The guy hits about .190 with RISP. I dunno, maybe Leyland was still seething about Iggy's error on a sure DP ball in the top half of the inning.

I was wondering if he was maybe hurt...he was hit by a pitch...or was leyland pissed at the error....did he think he hot dogged it? Didnt look like it....jim did have an issue about him hot dogging earlier, i had read.......or maybe im just looking too much into it....maybe he wanted to see dirks in the clutch? Who knows whats going on in jimmys head....we all know whats going on in genes head tho......mmmmmm doughnuts...

Yeah hard to say who you want in the playoffs.....any team can get hot and win a series....i just dont like the thought of the red sox having home field.....that damn wall.....our LF's? Jhonny, dirks, 2E, and kelly......not the greatest to man LF in boston.

The best IMO would be catch the A's....play them having homefield.....then catch TB, texas or cleveland in the ALCS with us getting that homefield......but in the postseason.....any team is dangerous....see the last 2 years....SF and STL

11 goose eggs for the Tigs this season. I thought this team was World Series bound, but going 8-8 through September shows that the team feels it can just "back-in" to the playoffs." Hell, Cleveland will lose 5 more and bingo, Detroit is in". Need to see ALOT of heart from these prima-donnas for the last 10 games or it will be one and done in the playoffs.

Last night's game exposed the two biggest holes for the Tigers: sucky middle relief and streaky hitting. I think the latter will be their downfall in the playoffs. They seem to just show up when they feel like it, scoring 0, 1, 2, then waking up and putting up 9 or 10. That could spell doom in a 5-game series.

No apologizing for Verlander here. He had an average game against a team he should have dominated. But when your own team scores zero, it really doesn't matter.
