Wish our road uni's were the same as home but dark blue with the orange D......hate our greys....

I like the old greys, without the orange trim like the current ones have. But I love the road hats. Our home unis are basically perfection............. In my opinion.

Man tori hunter has been quiet....he swings and misses alot lately and hits into DP's it seems....doesnt seem to be shooting the ball to RF anymore. Thats what we need from him.

Also vmart has been failing with men on alot lately too......guess we got spoiled the year he hit great with RISP....

Maybe im over judging?

Just seems we get a ton of hits and then certain guys fail with the men on..

It is not just a UNIFORM.....It's the city, the tradition, the fans, the stadium, and the organization, the players that have come and gone, old heros and new heros, winning and losing, Ernie Harwell on the radio and listening to him on Grandmas front porch........I went to my first Tiger game in 1958......never been the same since.....Always a Tiger....

How do I justify rooting for a team that plays poor defense, can't run the bases, doesn't move runners along, can't close baseball games, etc. vs a team that seemingly gets the most out of their talent. Crazy thing is, I don't think the Tigers will have a problem in this series.

The Tigers are simply not built to play the game the way Oakland does. The Tigers are a "wait for the big inning" team that also counts on excellent starting pitching. That said... I don't think the Tigers are poor defensively, except that Cabrera can't move a lick right now. When healthy, he's a more-than-adequate 3B with a plus arm. Catcher and LF are below-average, but LF is at least better than what we had out there last season. The Tigers are strong in CF, RF, SS, 2B and at least average at 1B. And I don't get your "can't close games" comment. Benoit is 20-for-20 in saves, and they have two above-average setup guys. It's the middle relief that sucks.

Iglesias makes up for a lot. Their defense is much below avg at 1B, 3B, LF, and completely garbage behind the plate. My biggest problem with the way they play is they don't move runners along and are terrible running the bases. I have a young son that I manage and I am embarrassed to have him watch them play.

Closing games to me means holding the lead. I don't have the stats in front of me but they suck at it.

Early in the season holding leads was an issue. But as long as Coke and New Mexico only pitch when trailing Im not concerned about the bullpen that much. Baserunning, that's a problem. Not just the team speed aspect.(Which, as is Detroits custom, is crazy slow and plodding) Our fastest player is probably one of the worst baserunners on the team. Torii Hunter, right now, is about the only non-slowass who is a heads up baserunner. (Infante and Dirks are solid as well.)

Baserunning, that's a problem. Not just the team speed aspect.

Can't argue with either one of you. Not just a slow team, but stupid on the bases as well.

Sorry, Bronco, but Infante also falls into the "stupid baserunner" category, IMO.

Said it earlier will say it again. Remember when JL said along the lines of who the hell do you want me to put in there when tigers fans had valverde still and a few of the fans here said why not benoit? Jl wanted nothing to do with benoit at closer. Now i know some of it is just JL trying to give valverde confidence at the time but even before valverde was on the team he was going closer by commitee instead of benoit. JLs biggest flaw imo has always been handling the bullpen and when many fans knew what the tigers had in benoit and his own damn coach didnt, geesh. Maybe jimmy just does not like benoit personall i dont know. Dont get me wrong I prefer JL as coach but is things like this that bother me about him.
