Dotel does not count, because he is on the 60 day DL. Tigers currently have 41 on the 40 man. Jhonny being suspended does not count, neither does Dotel leaving 39 on the 40 man. So if Dotel is activated then they have 40. So adding Jhonny 3 days before the end of the season requires someone to be dropped.

Here is a question.. is peralta counted on the 40 man roster while suspended? according to mlb.com.. he is on it.. but there is an asterisk next to his name saying he is not on the roster... also.. Luis Marte is on the 15 day dl.. if he is shifted to 60 day... i think they would have a spot for dotel... last thought i was hoping to bounce off you guys.. are the tigers going to have to call up a spot starter next week vs the royals.... 5 games in 4 days... it would throw the rotation completely off and have guys working on 4 days rest... will they call up alverez to start one of the games of the double header? if so.. who gets sent down to make room for him? al al? rondon? do they wait to recall omar infante and send perez down for a pitcher.. then send the pitcher down after the first game is done and recall omar for the night game? hmmmmmmm I am interested at how dd will handle this.

Plus Marte is on the 15 day dl.. so they can move him to the 60 day dl to put nicky c on it.. because marte is done for the season with surgery.

The more i look at it.. the less i think peralta will be brought back.. i think the only way you see him is if someone gets injured... nobody that is currently a position player on the team is getting left off the roster for him... even though i would be fine with santiago being left off.. he wont be.

dixon machado can go too.. he is not even a top 25 prospect for the tigers.. rail thin... never hitting anything... tigers have enough depth at infield prospect with devon travis, suarez, perez, and castro to take the risk of losing machado... he is trash.

side note.. that kid the tigers gave up in the trade for doug fister... francisco martinez is hitting like a stud now that he is back in the tigers system... Now if the tigers can get furbush back for peanuts.. that trade will really look amazing.

I think Johnny will be back. He's having a good year at the plate. JL is loyal to a fault I'm guessing that even includes PED's and all.......You are not going to take the stripes off that old man and he isn't going to change them himself.

He will make room for Johnny for the playoff push. That's just my opinion.

JL held onto to Raburn and Inge and forced them into the game. He won't go down without being loyal. Gene Lamont is still sticking around and that is a testament of how loyal JL is.

Loyalty goes two ways.. is he going to be loyal to peralta or one of the guys like santiago that did nothing wrong and would have to go to give a spot up for peralta... i highly doubt loyalty to peralta would go over loyalty to a guy that actually played the season out and wasn't suspended. I seriously doubt peralta gets a roster spot without an injury.

If Johnny is healthy I have a hunch Santiago would be sent down or let go before Peralta. If were strictly talking these two players.....

JL I think would take Peralta for the bat. He has Igelisas to take Santiagos spot.......

Too bad muzz can't see this, but I agree with him. I hope Peralta is done as a Tiger.....but I can see JL going with Peralta into the playoffs. Loyalty is what JL does.

You can't send santiago down.. you would have to dfa him.. that is not happening to accommodate a guy that is coming off a suspension for roiding... flat out bro.. the only way peralta comes back is if a roster spot is available by an injury... which isn't unheard of... but if everyone is healthy... peralta ain't taking a healthy players roster spot... I agree peralta is a much better bat than santiago.. but in this situation.. they will not cut a player that is clean and giving everything for the team over a player that has not played in 2 months because of a steroid ban.

Iffy.. if leyland is so loyal.. wouldn't he have the same loyalty to a player already on the roster that has seen game action for the last 2 months of the season and helped get the tigers there? Loyalty? He would be being loyal if he booted a guy off the roster that helped get the team to the playoffs in favor of a guy that is coming off a suspension?... that is not loyalty bro.

Again, I aslo said "let go" in my post.......Santiago has as good as chance of being let go as Peralta.......I think if push came to shove, Tigers would let go of Santiago go for a playoff push instead of Peralta.

I sure would! Ramon has been "hot" lately and just got over .200. He's no better defensively than JP. And Peralta could probably hit for just as much power as Santiago from the left side anyway. With Perez around I don't see any need for Ramon's services. But loyalty, yeah cant forget about that. I'm sure we'll be drafting his children soon anyway.

You do realize that Peralta is not going to play live baseball for 2 months... right? He is a career .260 hitter... I doubt after 2 months off and no way to rehab... being that the minor league season is over at that point... That he would be a better bat option than anyone... You are not looking at the entire picture here... The peralta of today coming back? maybe... the peralta after 2 months not in games... not seeing mlb pitching... and not being allowed in the tigers training facility? You still think after that info he is going to come back and hit .300 and smack hr? There is no rehab assignment he can go on the last week of sept.. there is no mlb pitching to hit until the suspension is lifted... but yeah.. out of loyalty peralta is going to get the nod and santiago.. who leyland loves.. will get the boot... I doubt it.. but i will eat crow if you are right.

We will see what happens, my money is still on Peralta being on the roster come playoff of time....If he isn't I'm wrong, and if he is your wrong. Pretty simple stuff here.
