Played through 1970's into a lot of the 1980's
Played on two teams but is best known for being on one of the teams.
Very well respected in his era.
Not in the hall of fame, but was in 10 all star games.
His DWAR stats don't look great but he did win 4 gold gloves.
Good hitter with 1970's power (meaning not roided up 50 hr power)
Played on lots of good teams and had even better stats in the postseason than the rest of his career

  • This player is (in my opinion) one of the most underrated baseball players of all time
  • He played his whole career in one city
  • He lead the league in double plays six times, which ties the major league record
  • Ranked 61st at his position in OBP
hitting into double plays?

Good guess, but think more OBP than power (even though this guy did have a lot of pop- just not on Rice or definitely Murray's levels)

I gotta go. I'll figure it out and get back, unless someone else steps up and gets it.

Last clue on mine--he played on a team with lots of talented players; one year they had like 7 guys hit over 20 hrs, which was unusual in the 1970's
