That's like saying that OBA is a sabremetric. I guess you can make the argument but it isn't a very good argument.

It is a pretty straight forward stat. It is a way a player's true offensive power. It is far less convoluted than something like WAR.

OPS+ is OPS but it is weighted against the league average and the park average for the player. It helps provide a long term measurement to compare players from different eras.

Generally speaking the weightings don't affect players much against their contemporary peers.

most of us have since embraced the superior sabrmetric stats that show how a lot of that HR/RBI can be deceiving.

There are a bunch of sabre stats that I find dubious as well, to varying degrees, including WAR. But OPS+ and ERA+ are two of the most useful stats.
