What a ridiculous argument. Gee, so the guy who played a LOT more postseason games than anyone else in baseball history, leads a lot of cumulative stats? You don't say?

"whoever plays in a lotta postseason games, is a lock to be the all time leader, sucking on the biggest stage in the biggest games is not possible"

What would be his laurels to rest on?

Let's start off by NOT bringing up World Series rings. There is very little evidence that rings help players get into the Hall.

How many hitters have made it into the Hall without 3000 hits or 500 HRs?

There are a few so it wouldn't be impossible certainly. But the argument becomes far less compelling. The guys I can think of that did do it were guys that were considered defensive wizards(Brooks Robinson, Roberto Alomar). Derek Jeter was never anything more than an adequate defensive SS.

If he retired at the end of 2009 when he had 2747 hits, he'd have the following:
-.317 AVG, .388 OBP, 121 OPS+, 1574 runs, 2747 hits, 224 HR, 1068 RBI, 305 steals, 67 WAR

How are those stats not HOF caliber by SS standards, especially if you tack on his postseason stats?

avg HOF SS has a JAWS score of 54.7 and a 66.7 WAR

jeter has a 71.8 WAR and a 57.0 JAWS

hes 12th all time in WAR for SS's (offensively, he doesnt even crack the top 1000 defensively) and 12th in JAWS.
yup, i posted it

theres his WAR, 71.8.

3215 out of 4256 for Pete Rose were singles

Yeah but he didn't have 2800 hits

And he didn't play anywhere else

Which is why the very first post in this thread, my post, said he should be in the Compiler's wing. As long as 3000 hits is a watermark qualifier, he is in. No one, I repeat, no one is arguing with you about this.

I'm referring to historical standards.

Hard to argue with the fact that very few hitters make the Hall without 3000 hits or 500 HRs. And the exceptions tend to be defensively elite players.

If you play a position up the middle you can. What about a guy like Barry Larkin who recently got in despite being nowhere near 3,000 or 500?

I can understand how decades of being the Yankees' bitches would lead Red Sox fans to be consumed by the Yankees, but the Mariners thing is kind of surprising.

pete had a cooler nickname

'charlie hustle' sounds a lot better than "the gay kid at short".

Larkin is a fair argument. And I wasn't claiming that he had no shot. But it would be a lot harder.

Fair point. I'd also like to point out that had Babe Ruth not hit 3,000 or 500 he would have had a lot harder time making the HOF.

Can't comment on Rose. He was an old man when i started following baseball. But from just looking at stats, I see similarities in their careers. Rose hit for a slightly higher average and had more doubles power. Jeter hit more homeruns.

Anyway, fuck Rose. Brady is a boyscout compared to Rose.
