That's why I say let him be in the compiler's wing. Without the 3000 hits he is Al Oliver or Bill Bucker.

except for the fact he played a position where offensive numbers were not that great... There is a huge difference between being a SS and any other position... Plus, you are not respecting the statistics that show longevity and consistency...

Shortstops rarely have a high ops. I wonder what he ranks positionally

Nomar, Arod and Tejada disagree. There was a trend toward solid offensive shortstops that ended abruptly with the beginning of mandatory drug testing.

Polar, if you want to say he is over-rated because he NEVER was a GREAT player that is fine... But you have to respect the difference between best career and best player...

So, he's got a higher WAR and JAWS score than the average Hall of Fame shortstop and that merits a thread claiming he's a fraud?

I knew that Red Sox fans were obsessed with the Yankees, but I didn't know Mariners fans were too. Hell, I didn't even know there were Mariners fans.
hes a SS. the guys ahead of him, are guys like ozzie smith...who...you know...played the defensive position.

jeters WAR is heavily weighed in offense.

Jeter is getting into the Hall solely because he has 3,000 hits.

He's Craig Biggio but on better teams.

Translation: Premium position doesn't count because I'm making up my own criteria to conveniently support my claims.

Wrong. If there are players on your team who are equal to or better than you in offense, and defensively better than you at the position you play, then your defensive and offensive WAR within your team roster is going to be a negative number.
You could argue, but you'd be wrong.

If he had 2800 hits, you think he wouldn't be in? That's far-fetched.

Did Jeter play those games at shortstop or not? If he did (regardless of whether he was the best choice), then your point is irrelevant.

You can't pretend that his stats at shortstop didn't take place because there were better options, and that's why your logic here is absurd.

Did Magic get Robbie Alomar and Albert Don't Call Me Joey Belle hooked up on the good HIV drugs? We wouldn't want Robbie and Joey to leave this Earth prematurely.

Lmao

If we ignore the 30 point difference in career BA

Or we could also ignore Biggios ONE 200 hit season to Jeters 8

Really, I could keep going
