Joe Torre once made Jeter the fifth shortstop selected the All Star team because Nomar, ARod, Tejada and Omar were all outperforming him offensively and they all had an OPS+ in excess of 120. But Joe was not going to 'disrespect' Jeter despite the fact that Jeter was undeserving that year.
