Looks like it Murph. It'll take a while for this to be sorted out and I'm about to call it a day.

I agree. His ERA is mis-leading. He doesn't strand many runners that he inherits. I don't want Tolleson in the bullpen next year.

I had hoped to see better results for Tolleson this year

Found out anything on the possible Lester trade?

just speculation. if i hear any strong opinions or anything other than "he could be going here..." ill let you know. I don't think some of the things he says are even worth posting because its obvious. For example, like 20 minutes ago he told me "If Lester can fetch good prospects, then price will get even more"

Like, that's obvious, so its not even worth stating. The last relevant thing I heard from him was that its believed to be either LAD or Pitt. Rosenthal adds STL but IDK how much truth there is to that.

Could even be Thursday, he hasn't been traded yet. Just scratched from his start, expecting him to be moved

I was told that he was moved, its just that sometimes teams don't like to make things official or anything until the next day, especially considering its midnight in boston. I think we'll hear something about it tomorrow morning. the specific text I got said "The pieces are in place and we think Lester has been moved. We were even told that he was pulled from his start. Gotta be LA."

Then, subsequent texts added a little more detail to it.

I read Taveras and Shelby Miller could get it done. Not sure if that was offered, but that would do it if I ran the RS. I hope they don't get those 2. They immediately get better and I believe Lester will sign back with the Sox in FA.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it but Thompson did ok in his first AA start. Although Terps said he wouldn't walk more than 1 and he walked 3 (sorry Terps). He only gave up 2 hits in 4 IP though. Claudio, who we've mentioned lately had the outing worth noting. He came in for Thompson and pitched 4 innings and only gave up 1 hit. We might have our situational lefty for next year.

Thats good I picked up a Claudio and Soto jersey in my auction today, to go w the Gallo one

I'm absolutely shocked JT had 3 walks today. I really am.

I was just messing with you with the comment. It was probably nerves. I bet his next outing will be better. I saw Soria got lit up. Maybe DET should stop acquiring our closers.

JT did have 5 K's in 4 IP though

He is clearly going somewhere, just a matter of where and it will only be for a few months. Though with the lack of draft pick compensation attached to him in the offseason, other teams will have a chance to blow him away without losing a draft pick

I don't even think it was that bad of an outing for his second AA start. His control is what has set him apart though ever since he got drafted. If he has his normal 1 or 0 walks then his outing looks pretty good

Nationals third baseman/left fielder Ryan Zimmerman has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 hamstring strain, reports MLB.com’s Bill Ladson. That is the most severe form of hamstring strain, involving a tear of half or more of the muscle, and could shelve Zimmerman for a significant stretch. The injury took place on July 22.
The Nationals have already been said to be probing the market for a possible third or second baseman, with the presumed intention of utilizing Anthony Rendon at whichever spot is not filled via trade. The seriousness of Zimmerman’s injury could increase the likelihood of an addition. Of course, the team could stick with its current alignment, with Danny Espinosa and Zach Walters sharing time at the keystone and Rendon playing his natural hot corner.
If Washington looks to make an addition, it would look to a market with relatively few everyday regulars seemingly available. Among potentially available third basemen, Adrian Beltre of the Rangers is the clear prize — if he’s put up for sale. The Nats were reportedly “rebuffed” in an earlier inquiry, but Texas is said to have had eyes on Triple-A Syracuse last weekend.

HAHAHAHA. Unless they're package includes Zimmerman AND Giolito, I'm laughing at them. The only prospects from Wash I'd even consider are Giolito and Cole. If you dont know who lucas giolito is, he's like a 19 year old right handed pitcher who many had tabbed to go number one last year, ahead of appel. But during his senior season he had to have TJ and he fell. But he was averaging 96-98 on his fastball and touching 101. Dont know how it is now, but he's still a top prospect so i assume its okay.

For Beltre, it would take 2-3 top prospects and/or an outfielder who is either ready to go in the MLB this year or will be ready to go next year. Zimmerman and Giolito have to be included from Wash for Beltre otherwise you hang up.

However, if their package DOES include Zimmerman and Giolito, then its pretty close. Offering an outfielder or another pitcher like AJ Cole (Wash would never trade Giolito AND Cole in the same trade, so its not happening) would seal the deal. I'd pull that trigger before the guy changes his mind. Giolito is thought of to be a future ace.

MLB radio yesterday was saying that Cards should consider offering Taveras and Miller to the Rangers for Beltre...I first scoffed when I heard it, thinking there's no way the Cards would do this. But as they explained, it's not as far fetched as I would have thought...Cards have been disappointed with Millers inconsistency and there are growing doubts about Taveras taking that next step to MLB...so it would now become an issue for the Rangers. Do we take a "risk" on the tremendous upside...I'd sure think about it. But the downside of losing Beltre and getting marginal return would be disastrous for us at this stage...
