I don't know about Talib. Guy is too interested in money. How about sam shields from GB? Pretty darn good and we can get him at a better price.

I doubt Greenbay lets Sheilds hit the market.

I wouldn't if I were them. Just depends on their cash situation.

They are $28 million under the cap before making any moves. We are $32 million before any moves. They have a few more important pieces to resign though. But if they want him, money wont be a problem.

Im totally against it. We have done horrible going after guys based on what they did else where.

IM looking at young guys who are solid at their position, but not the sports center poster child. We have gotten away from the habit of guys coming to DC just to get paid, I am hoping we keep it that way.

I feel like we have addressed this question multiple times in previous threads. My answer remains the same. Defense overall, but not at the expense of not addressing the Oline at all, which at a minimum needs at least 2 players.

Getting back to rak. Everyone wants to give him big money but he has zero FF on the year. Also, only 2 sacks in the first 8 games of the season. If he gets big money from us we should be expecting 13-15 sack seasons or at least some FF. Right?

Lets see, he was coming back from injury. Our defense does not send him on blitzes or after the QB in general nearly as much as it should. If we dont pay him, some one else will. In which case, we add another hole to our defense which as of DEC 31 will be missing Hall, Wilson, Merriweather, Doughty, LFB and Riley.

We need to resign Rak and Riley and probably Merriweather and Hall as well. Not to mention we will need another safety and atleast one D-lineman. No one is saying give him big money, but he should get what he is worth, which is some where in the $8-10 million a year range.

you don't think 8-10 million is big money? I just think Kerrigan has been more effective this year. The ff stats say a lot. I would like rak back but 10 million is a lot of money. If we do lose him, Jackson and Jenkins could step up and use that extra money elsewhere. Hopefully we can get Rak back for 7 or 8 mil. Plus if you give Rak 10 mil then Kerrigan is going to want 10 mil next season. I rather have Kerrigan than Rak on our team.

I would rather have them both. And Jackson is older than Rak, Jenkins has not proven to be starting caliber yet. If we lowball Rak, some one else is going to pay him, have no doubt of that. $10 million is alot of money, but he is worth it. And Kerrign has been more effective because Rak is in the game. Kerrigan was not very effective last year when rak wasnt around. We need them both or it doesnt work.

Jackson was more effective last year with Kerrigan. Kerrigan still had 8.5 sacks and 2 Ff last year with rak out. Jackson had 4.5 sacks and 2 FF. I don't think 6-8 mil for Rak is low balling. If you pay Rak 10 million that is saying he is a top 5 OLb in the game. I don't think so. Plus Kerrigan is going to want that or even more next year. Can we afford to keep both? We have to be careful here. I hope we are not bidding against ourselves.

Actually $10 million would make him sixth in average salary for the OLB position

2013 NFL Top Average Salaries - Outside Linebacker

I think $8 million a year would be the least we could get him for, $10 million a year is the most we would give up. I think it falls around $9.5 per year. And i think he is well worth it to this team.

But he is not a top 6 OLB in the NFL. This is going to be interesting. If he gets 10 mil then Riley and Hall might be cut lose. Which is not good.

Who can we get that is as good or better?? No Jackson is not as good or better, and he is older. Jenkins is young, but he also isnt ready to start and all he is capable of is pass rushing. He is a liability in the run and if put into coverage. And I think I showed you, we could give Rak $10 and still keep Hall and riley and STILL have around 420 million to fill out the roster at minimum... and this is without making any really crazy moves.

Jackson is a year older and a decent LB. No one knows about Jenkins b/c he hasn't played yet. Ok if you give rak his 10 mil and keep Hall and Riley is there enough money next year to keep Kerrigan? Plus with all of this extra money you know Danny is going to make a big splash in Free Agency.
