No defense to the Pats but this is being reported poorly. Its 2 lbs per square inch which is a pressure not a weight. I'm not even sure if a football weighs 2 lbs.

2psi when the range is 12.5-14.5 is a significant amount. The reporting is fine.

Not arguing that the pressure adjustment is not significant. Reports have show in fact it is. The errors in those reports I was pointing out was with the science. Pressure is not synonymous with weight... that was error I was pointing out anyway.

Tom Brady

1st half with deflated ball 11/21 (52%) 95 yards 1 TD & 1 INT
2nd half with the inflated ball 12/14 (86%) 155 yards 2 TD's

I thought the way cheating worked was to gain an advantage during the act of cheating.

Brady does not seem all that good at it.

Well being bad at cheating doesn't make it acceptable.

That's assuming they used one the entire first half and didn't in the second which I really don't this we know for certain. Either way you look at it though... it's still an attempt to gain an unfair advantage whether it helps or not.

The important thing to remember is "did the deflated ball touch the ground thereby causing the ball boy to fumble it before he took three steps towards the ref who was picking up the flag?

Breaking: The most strongly worded statement to date has just come out of the NFL Commissioner's Office. It reads:

We don't need no underinflation.
We don't need no air control.
No dark lord decides the outcome.
Billy, leave them balls alone!
Hey! Billy, leave them balls alone!
All in all it's just another step toward the fall.
All in all you're just another prick that's gonna fall.

Personally, I feel like there are still some things to prove here or at least some questions that haven't been answered:

1. How, where, and when did they take the pressure measurement of these balls?

2. Were the Colts balls also measured? Were they all regulation length? Oops I mean pressure.

Answering these 2 questions alone would let us eliminate lots of other possibilities. For instance the pressure will be different if it is measured in a cooler or warmer environment. This also would apply for elevation as well. Granted those variables would have to differ pretty greatly to have as significant of an effect though. If you compare the Pats balls to the Colts balls and measure them at the same location at the same time, you could eliminate any error due to temperature and elevation amongst several other things. Also, I am sure you want to answer 1 to make sure there was no tampering after the game. Honestly, I think this might end up being pretty tough to prove.

That said, given their past and other players saying it is common, it is really easy to assume that they are guilty. I think if they can prove that they are guilty that it should be viewed as a forfeit of the game. That's what I think any method of cheating punishment should be. If people knew that a W could be taken away or even worse a SB appearance, they will think long and hard before they attempt any form of cheating. Isn't this how we did it in middle and high school sports?
