Again, I don't get the fixation on Smith. He is averaging 8 games a season in the past 4 years. He is a great talent for sure...he just isn't healthy.

To me, availability is more important than ability. We have a poster here who doesn't understand that and keeps agenda posting about it.

If you sign Smith, it needs to be an inexpensive deal and have a top back up.

I wouldn't mind Smith, but that is a lot of games missed. Wow!

Not trying to be oppositional, but yeah, the signing would not make much sense to me.

We need somebody who can be counted on. Just my 2 cents.

The talent is there...no question. No doubt about it.

Not sure what the plan is at tackle, wr, LB, corner, and safety still.

Lots of time to figure it out of course.
The fact that Wylie is still here is strange to me.

There's gotta be a starting OT we can take at 36.
Sometimes, fans have the same outlook at LT as they do at qb.
If they aren't a 1st round pick, there is concern.

I have had that outlook personally. It's unfounded.

Im sure there is a plan in place when they released Leno for LT. If we don't sign Smith, get another FA OT. I've seen mocks where 8 OT's were drafted in the first round. Its a tough task for a rookie LT 2nd round pick to man the position and start Week 1. Plus, to do that with a rookie QB. If it happens it happens but I think a FA OT is signed.

Smith is intriguing. If he can stay healthy, it would definitely speed up the maturation process for Drake or Jayden. Big if, understood.

Big needs you still see?

I got
LT
RT
WR
SS
CB
MLB

Lots of holes. I wonder what positions peters has circled for the draft?

Personally, i would like SS and RT in free agency.

Sounds about right. I hope Peters keeps handing out small deals. This buys him time and allows him the flexibility to go BPA in the draft.

Maxing out the credit cards when you are nowhere near your window doesn't make sense. Having to blow up the roster you have built to pay Drake or Jayden is hustling backwards.

Sign low price vets that play with their hair on fire and can show the young pups how to prepare, study, train, and eat. In the meantime, build through the draft.

Once the QB is ready, then you hit FA and grab some difference makers to put you over the top.

JMO but this is how FA should work. You get guys to plug holes. Of course this team had a LOT of holes. As many times as I studied Sportrac I kept looking and trying to figure how they were going to fill all these holes. I knew Peters came from a place where they were not large spenders in FA. He stayed true to that. But wow, what have they signed now .... 10 guys? This team won't be great but they shouldn't be 4-13 bad.

I am so glad we didn't go sign two or three high priced FAs. Now we have to see if DQ can get our 3 $20+ million to play up to those salaries.

It is so good to see our team act like a competent football team again. It's been a long time boys.
