Based on a buddhist chant/meditation/prayer

I will fight; will fight with my heart.
I will fight; will fight with understanding.
In my mind, the weather never changes
Skill overcomes, difficult situations.

A straight line exists between me and the good thing.
I have found the line and its direction is known to me.
Absolute trust keeps me going in the right direction.
Any intrusion is met with a heart full of the good thing.

Try to compare what I am presenting.
You will meet with much frustration.
Try to find ... similar situation.
You will always find the same solution.

As the heart finds the good thing, the feeling is multiplied.
Add the will to the strength and it equals conviction.
As we economize, efficiency is multiplied,
To the extent I am determined the result is the good thing.

So I say:
I have adopted this and made it my own:
Cut back the weakness, reinforce what is strong.

I guess the takeaway is, I really dig their new sound, and I'll be sad when the Sirius/XM station shuts down later this month.

I figured after they moved it to 30 that it'd be around longer. I guess I'll just have to download some more of their live stuff and listen to it from my phone.

No hate. Just ambivalent. Some of their songs are ok, but nothing ever really grabbed me. Give me a couple of tunes that might change my mind. I'll check them out later tonight when my state of mind is more receptive, so to speak.

I've paid very little attention to current popular music for roughly 20 years, so my opinions about it aren't very informed.

I didn’t really consider diversity when I picked the songs, I just grabbed ones I like, but I’m thinking the second three might sound different to you, particularly Captain.

For my edification, can you give me an example of a band that lays down grooves that do somewhere?

The Dead, The Allman Bros (original lineup anyway)... any number of jazz combos I could name. I'm probably not articulating what I mean very well. But within their grooves there's not much going on instrumentally that is interesting or compelling which is very subjective, of course. I listened to their Sirius channel on my commute home. One of the songs they played was Crash Into Me, which I know of course and that's a nice piece and deservedly a hit. Another was Lie In Our Graves, which wasn't bad either. There was 1 other that was just meh and I don't recall the name. I haven't check out the other 3 you posted yet.

War
Pixies
Santana
The Clash
Little Feat
Steely Dan
Moody Blues
Talking Heads

We were going to see War last night, free concert on the river downtown. But it was already gridlock downtown when I left there for home to pick up my wife, streets closed due to multiple events, that we decided we didn't want to see them that badly.
