Sproles avoiding OTAs after Eagles fielded trade calls

Darren Sproles is skipping OTAs in light of attempts being made by the Eagles to trade him. Not saying the Redskins should be interested, but he would be intriguing as a return guy now that Roberts is gone. This would of course depend on what the Eagles want for him. But the bigger bugaboo here is his cap number: he's due to make $3.5M this year. If the Eagles want to part ways with him, Sproles will either have to agree to a reduced deal (or have the Eagles pick up some of his salary) or get cut.

Sproles aside, this raises the other issue about who our returns guys are. Rashad Ross looked okay at times as a kickoff returner, but I saw way too many times when he couldn't go passed the 20. Crowder as a punt returner didn't look so hot on way too many occasions.

I'm staying out of this one. :)
I knew you'd post on this thread. For those who don't know, DGF would post every year (maybe every week) on KFFL.com that the Skins need to get Darren Sproles - or the next Darren Sproles. Every once in a while, DGF was right. But he's getting old... Sproles that is.

Is there still a KFFL board? I've heard a whole lot about the ESPN boards. Boy, that must've been quite a circus. What about Extremeskins? Anyone on there as well?

Guess I could see a swap of picks next year if Scot sees a fit. Seems his age would hamper a move tho:noidea:

Is Sproles worth a draft pick or picks and the $3.5M salary he'll bring here? I think the latter, without some type of agreement to lower the tradee's liability for that figure, might be a deal killer.

The KFFL Non Sports board is like an old dive bar that is still hanging on because of a handful of regulars. Redskins board is even worse. Extreme is always there but too many rah rah types who proclaim every Redskin is a Pro Bowler.

Rather kick the tires on Foster or try to get Beast Mode to lace um up again.

Beast Mode is about to turn into Shaun Alexander and will be expensive. I think it was you that I disagreed with about Foster. I just
saw another dead end there with a broken down back with a ton of miles. But you may have been right. He's still only 29 and productive just 2 years ago. Certainly worth a look.

I wish the Raiders would try and pick him up. On topic though......I think it'd be a great move for the 'Skins.

Are y'all capped out?

No to Sproles and Foster. Both old and/or with mileage/injuries. Foster also runs upright, and thus is prone to big hits, and doesnt offer antthing that Matt Jones doesnt already give you (similar running styles).

Sproles at least would be a change of pace back thats harder to bring down than Chris Thompson. But he's old.

Wasn't me, this is the first time I have mentioned Foster. I like what we have now. I think Jones, Thompson, and Marshall should get a real shot at it. I'm just saying I would rather go get Foster or Lynch before I trade for Sproles.

i think we will wait for a few weeks into TC or even after our first preseason game before we make a move or even should . let our young guys try to prove what they are before we bring in a stop gap
