Revis and Skrine is a great combination for their secondary. Plus the addition of Carpenter to the O-Line and Marshall, the Jets have already addressed their biggest needs (aside from QB) and they still have money to burn.

It was kind of a no brainer for the Jets. It's not like they will need the cap room to sign an elite QB any time soon.

Thanks Revis for the ring.

Knew he was gone too. NE was lucky to get him last yr, he wanted NY and they wanted nothing to do with him. No biggie it was bound to happen.

Revis Island is back!

But we already have the best cornerback in the league in Dee Millner. :noidea:

Revis scored huge... his 2015 cap number is $2M more than Brady's. Hard to blame him, this was his last contract and he definitely made a mark.

Pats pass defense is back to being a liability.

Pats have $9M in space... Jets now have $15M in space, and they reached the 89% cap floor in one foul swoop.

I am not convinced that Pats defense is a liability.....

So now that Pats have passed up on both Revis and Browner it's down to Arrington, McCourty, Logan, Chung and Butler?

Not so deep anymore.

Still in denial I see. ;) I think we're back to the secondary that just made quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Tannehill and Marc Sanchez look like franchise all pro QBs. (Who should be writing checks to the Patriots btw)

Darius Butler is not walking through that door. Jonathon Wilhite is ...

Well you guys might have something in Butler. He outplayed Sherman, Revis, Browner, Maxwell all in the SBOWL. Deflected/Stopped ~1/5 of Wilson's passes which is why IMO he was the MVP. But we shall see

Had Brady not had that ridiculous 4th quarter to go along with the SB record 37 receptions Butler likely would have merited more MVP consideration. Edelman was incredible as well and could have been the pick without any complaints around here.

I beg to differ on 'ridiculous' since it was dink/dunk the entire way, but I digress. Your D had the ridiculous 4th quarter where Butler went HAM and the D shut Seattle down to 2 3 and outs and basically shut down their final drive PRIOR to a clutch INT if it was not for that RIDICULOUS tip recovery by Seattle.

But that is the way of the NFL. White 'model' QB + SBOWL win = MVP. And yah I went there with the race (nothing to do with Wilson mind you, he didn't deserve it, just talking NFL bias in general).

You call it dink and dunk, I call it carving up the D.

Your race comment is absurd. The winning QB is usually the overwhelming favorite to win the MVP.

Guess we beg to differ on 'carving up the D'.

You're right on the race card, it was absurd lol. I just am SO tired of QBs winning MVP I'll look for any excuse. The day they BAN QBs from MVPs.... is when I can die happily.

I could definitely see the Jets now going hard for Mariota to secure the quarterback position and have that position on the cheap for the next 4-5 years. That would be the Revis contract so they can pay him like he is the quarterback of the team while Mariota stays on the Rookie Contract that is so cheap. Plus they have given him some weapons now with Marshall, Decker, and Amaro. Get him a RB (which this draft class is loaded with) and all of a sudden the Jets look like somebody that could push the Patriots a little this year depending on how much Mariota can do as a rookie.

Eli Manning has two MVP trophies and his defense is the only reason the Giants won. For all the talk about Brady playing like crap both times against the Giants, Eli didn't exactly kill the very mediocre NE defense.

I think Payton has 1 as well and he owes his Rex Grossman. :L

Just for shits and giggles I checked and 27 of the 49 SB MVP winners have been QBs

It is the same with the MVP trophy especially the last 20 years. Other than a few RB's here and there having big seasons the MVP trophy might as well just be best quarterback in the league trophy kind of thing.
