The Knicks is probably the job he would leave UConn for.....and Thibs could retire in a few seasons. He is 66 and the NBA season is a grind.
Nope.

But I do see the Nets getting Hurley eventually at some point down the road in a few years if not sooner.
Maybe the Wizards even more so.

It’s not.

People don’t like where he went or the way that he announced it.

Kind of like breaking up with a long time girlfriend via text.

I mean, text would have been better than stringing her along and announcing to the girl she is being dumped to the world.

Yeah if he stayed in CLE people would’ve said it was great

He didn’t do that.

He told everyone he was announcing his decision on the show.

It was pure speculation that he was staying in Cleveland.

Media was talking about LeBron’s free agency for years. And he did a masterful job of always avoiding that question.

Maybe Lebron should just retire already so he can “officially” become the Lakers head coach.

:heh:
They should make him player coach, Bill Russell won his last 2 titles that way.

It was a little tone deaf but you're exactly right, he got WAY more shit for it than he deserved. There are people today who right then decided they didn't like LeBron from that moment, and they still don't. Even Lakers fans like Black Adam.

I doubt that was a reason. I suspect it just wasn't the right pro job for him. Clearly the Lakers are approaching a rebuild after Lebron and AD.

I honestly don't think that he wants to leave UConn. Last month after Kentucky hired, he said that staying in the northeast was important to his family and that he wanted to stay married.

Maybe if the Nets or Celtics job opens up he might take that down the road.

FTR, he still hasn't signed his new UConn contract.

It was a little self Indulgent like the heisman ceremony being an hour when you need 10 minutes

But still….

Oh yea, the job security thing absolutely.

Do NBA coaches work in the offseason? I guess, but not in the same way.

College coaches need to be at it all year. Especially with NIL/portal.

Then again, the way things are these days, the NBA offseason is practically nil

The college season is 6 months. The NBA season 9 months. College teams play 40 games. NBA teams can play 90.

Hurley just won 2 NCAA titles and has a chance for a threepeat. He's young and has plenty of opportunity to go to the NBA in a few years when he gets tired of college ball.

Exactly...way more grief for that than expected or warranted, I don't get it.

No one wants to coach a team with LeBron. He makes all the decisions and he sucks at them just like MJ. Get rid of LeBron and build a new team.

Yeah, some people took it harder than others. I didn’t really think much of it, the guy was larger than life and the stage he decided to present it on and the team he chose both made sense to me; but I also agree it was a little tone deaf, I don’t think anyone could think it wasn’t, at least just a little.
