With the team around him, he should be doing a lot more than just making the playoffs. Most of his stats come in garbage time when they are trailing by a lot and playing a prevent D. His play has been subpar and he keeps trying to act like his is just coming off of his ROY and wants to get paid like it. Just not a fan of him.

I agree with your bolded. (rest is towards your quote not you jarntt)

I really dont blame one side. Dak could have gotten his money. his unwillingness to negotiate on the years costs both.
Dallas not sure but could have sweetened a deal to get to 5 years (dunno)
Goff, Wentz & Watson have signed 4 year deals. Damaging the teams they are/were on right now. Although Watson is a completely different scenario.

People worry about the cap, signing Dak, but want to be on his side over 4 or 5 years. That hurts the cap. There is more than just sign him. It has to work for both sides so we dont gut the team to retain him. To me putting it simply for both sides. More years more money. Less years less money. Not less years more money.
People that bring up Tannehill. Please. We would sign that deal all day every day for Dak LOL Why would clickbait people even include him.
Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers! Who BTW is is in a team friendly contract for a top QB in the NFL.
Mahomes. He cant fit into any scenario right now because a contract of his style has never been done. We wont know until years & years from now if this was a good deal or not.

If I am gonna blame anyone I am gonna blame the agent (out of convenience) but what I would like to see is Dak get signed long term before July 15th or whatever the date is. I fully expect him to get fran tagged again so they have more time to iron out the new deal. Which will send all the clickbait fuckers into a feeding frenzy whether for or against Dak. if we dont have a new deal by then. I dont expect Dak to be playing for us in 2022. I for one fully expect him to be playing for us in 2022. he is the leader of this team. He wont be walking away. I dont see him trying to pull a Watson. he wants to stay. I dont have the answer to what it will take, but I feel they will get there.
For everyone blaming the team. You cant just fall on your back with your legs in the air in negotiations. I understand it. They both held their ground the last time. Didnt get anyone anywhere. They will find a solution this year. (I hope)
I kind of blame the agent. It is both sides.

Lol ,ok, who should be the replacement? Dalton? Dalton cant even put up garbage yards.

Yeah, I mean look at that great OL Dak had protecting him. Missing Smith,Collins,Frederick.. looney, knight and Steele were way below average. Starting TE out.. Defense riddled with injuries. But it all Dak fault

The OL was hurt last year. What about the previous years? He had one of the best OL's Zeke as the RB and a very good receiving corps. He is a mid tier QB at best. Like I said previously look at his stats. A large portion of his stats are in garbage time and then you guys get all excited that he threw 400 yards and you want to pay him like he is elite.

The OL has been hurt for a few years now. It now expected that T. Smith misses games, Fredericksburg missed all of 2018 due to Barres Syndrome. Martin missed games in 18 and 20, and was at risk of missing some in 19.

Admit, you know nothing about whats going on in Dallas other than reputation.

Saw on SC today them discussing this situation. With the cap, and things, that Jerrah has very little leverage. Also, the thinking is that dak wants 40million a year......and a shorter 3 year contract to cash back in when the cap spikes again.........

They had Tannebaum on. I'm not up on the talks, but it made sense.

He had a fantastic OL in 2016. The next 3 years it was average and the first two of those years his receivers absolutely sucked. You know who the Cowboys "very good" week 1 starting receivers were in 2018? Terrance Williams and Devonta Thompson. Both were out of the league by the end of the season. Last year his OL was just horrible. Probably one of the worst in the league in decades. At one point their top 4 OTs were all out. They lost their great Center before the year and then their opening day starting center for a while. Their All Pro Guard went out with an injury as well as did another Guard. You can regurgitate what you read about his OL but it wasn't valid for any year but his first. Zeke has had a huge drop off as well. I'm not a huge fan of the stat and it is obviously skewed towards present day players but to pick one that tries to encompass all of what a QB should be his career passer rating is 97.3. That is tied with Tom Brady for 7th best All Time (and no, no one is saying he is as good as Brady or that he is the 7th best all time). And when your defense sucks it's always garbage time... :noidea:

there is always a Jerry factor, which is why this deal hasn't been done.

I heard a Dallas sports talk station today talking how Dallas could push Martin, Collins, DLaw, Cooper and yes, Elliott's contracts buy kicking the can down the road when the cap was higher along with cutting Jaylon Smith and the punter...said the results were having 38M in cap space after tagging Dak. They said if they worked out a LTD with Dak and did the above, they could get 43M under the cap. Seems they thing it could work as long as you get the abouve guys upright and playing well for another 3 years.

listened to sports talk today and they said the Prescott situation to date has much more to do with Stephen than Jerry.

I'm thinking this shit continues long after Jerry is done. Hope may have to wait for Jerry's grandson

if it is a 3 year contract. Might as well just fran tag him again & plan on working on the future QB for after next year.
I believe the 3 year thing is coming from all the guessers that know he wanted only 4 years last year.
No way the Cowboys sign him to only 3 years. That is just pure stupid. (or in another words. Eagle like)

Who knows at this point. Personally I’d rather have him for 3 than 4 Just like I would have rather done 4 years last year instead of 5. You just never know when injury or a drop off can begin. I guess we could do a 3 year deal and then tag him again To make it 4 but that would be starting the merry go round all over again

I think this 3 year contract is media based and not real. The club would not only lose on the term but also the signing bonus and average per year. That would be just rubbing the organizations nose in shit all the way around. A negotiation is win and concede on certain aspects of a contract for BOTH sides.

NOW...I don't know a bigger Dak homer than me from day one but I will tell you if Dak continues to leave this up to his agent, who clearly seems to have his own best interest in mind and determined to get Dak on the open market. Dallas has to draft QB at 10 and plan life after Dak. If it were me, I'd put the transition tag on our QB, let other teams negotiate with France and if they don't want to match an offer, then they get compensation for the lose in next years draft.
