These younger guys finding new teams were all subject to waivers, for the most part. As is the case with Marvin Austin... I'd think someone puts in a claim for him too?

How many guys that have been cut from the 49ers during the Baalke/Harbaugh era, have gone on to have a decent career, or better yet, a decent season with another team? Trent and Jim are pretty damn good talent evaluators and they never seem to miss with guys that were under the teams control.

And even if they did turn out well elsewhere, there's no guarantee that they would have had success in our system with the guys they had ahead of them or how we would have played them. By playing elsewhere when they'd be on the bench here, they by default produce more elsewhere. If looking at potential if played, I could see them having a worse career elsewhere than here, but factor in not playing here, and that sways it a bit.

Irritated about Cooper and especially about Gray. Happy for hall though. Had some hopes for those guys. PS looks pretty much as expected.

So wait until after the Packers game and then cut him? So then the Seahawks do the same thing? When does it stop? At what point do you say it's ok to cut him and let another team learn all our secrets? Wait until the week before the Jaguars game?

And which specific worthless player would you have them cut instead?

Yeah. Seriously. We'll just keep four QBs all year. And it's not like other teams have shown any interest in the guys we've cut.

Apparently everyone in the nfl has to earn their spot. Or if not, then learn the playbook.

Good. I am not a Tebow fan, but the way that Quinn went on GQ magazine saying how Tebow's success was all defense, receivers, and luck and that it was his job but the executives were too weak to public pressure bugged me. Then, when given a chance in KC and now in Seattle, he whiffs. Maybe Tebow was a "let's get this over with" move, but they knew you weren't it.

McCoy > Quinn as far as former Cleveland QBs. Or is there context that dispute that? I never watched these guys play outside of when we played them or this year's preseason with McCoy.

So the Niners are still gonna get Carradine, Dial, Manningham and eventually Carbtree back. Am I forgetting anyone? That means 4 players on the roster have to eventually go.

Tony Jerod-Eddie is as good as gone when one of the DL comes back IMO. Dobbs could get cut when the other comes back because they don't really need him at TE any more.

I could see 'em cutting Raymond Ventrone for one of the WRs, but who else goes?

This is all the more reason the Ninerss should trade either Ahmad Brooks or Cam Johnson if they can get a good enough deal for him. Carrying 5 OLBs is going to make it tough to bring back 2 WRs.

Losing these two guys really hurt. They are both players that I envisioned being part of this team for years to come. I was very disappointed but from what I understand both players are on the 53 man roster of their new teams.

Tyler Wilson was cut???

Wow. It sucks to be the Raiders.

The Niners already have a developed Tyler Wilson on the roster in McCoy IMO, so I don't think I'd be interested.

I wonder who the Niners thought benefited them more making the PS. Morris seemed to play some tight coverage in camp, but don't recall seeing him in the preseason, wonder if the team was hiding him.

The Niners didn't get a say in which they kept. A player has to clear waivers before he can be signed to a practice squad.

Cooper isn't on our PS because he was claimed by the Chiefs.

Morris is on our PS because no teams claimed him on waivers.

For a specific cut How "bout Tony Jerod -Eddie. Nobody wiould take that chump. As for Tolzein, you cut him Friday night so it is too late for BG to implement anything effective with help from Tolzein.

Chiefs signed Cooper and Hall? Hmmm...

Now I know it sucks to lose those guys, especially Cooper from the possibility of being on our practice squad, but I can't help finding the humor in seeing a very consistent trend with the Chiefs: they like our trash.

McCoy at least has some experience and that counts for something. He is fairly mobile but reminds me 100% of Alex Smith when he rolls to the right. You know there is no chance of completing a pass downfield. The best you can hope for is a throw out of bounds. He is definitely in the bottom third of NFL QBs in my opinion.

So you cut him after spending the week putting together the game plan? That's fantastic logic. Let's spend the week teaching him what we're going to do against GB, THEN cut him.

That makes much more sense than cutting him before game planning starts.

Also, if we cut him on Friday, Seattle might claim him rather than GB. The only way your approach makes sense is if we carry him to the bye week then cut him.

Essentially nothing that has been covered in training camp is a secret anyhow. Roughly 98% of it will be on tape from last year.

It's the weekly game plan that matters.

But you know that already.
