He reminds me of a couple of soccer players I coached. Two different years but the same issue, notch top notch goalies, mediocre/horrible strikers, who didn't want to play in goal for me because that is what they did for their travel teams. So we always had angry/horrible keepers play in goal. And their sad asses running around up top missing easy goals.

Of course Ohtani is very good at both positions but still he wants to be a hitter more than a pitcher, doesn't he? Yes, he does.

But it's all irrelevant because we aren't getting him.

Is Crawford really going to be ready that soon? I have my doubts.

Szapucki and Perez are done for the year. That leaves Luis Gonzalez. The Giants have about 18 days to make a decision on him since he started his rehab assignment two nights ago.

Waites could be back by mid September but I wouldn't count on him pitching with the big club again this year.

The Giants did make a roster move today, releasing infielder/catcher Ford Proctor. Proctor was a 3rd round pick by the Rays in 2018 and traded to San Francisco last year. He recorded 2 hits, including a grand slam, in 18 at-bats for the Giants in 2022.

I expected this to happen when Luciano was promoted. Proctor wasn't hitting much in AAA this year.

updated...
You realize the first post of this thread is constantly changed, right? Thus my “Updated” post actually means something.

Not sure what your “updated” post means outside of not understanding what mine meant.

Big shuffles…

Patrick Bailey added to 40 and 26
Ryan Walker (??) added to 40 and 26
Joey Bart added to 10-day IL
Cal Stevenson DFA’d
Heliot Ramos added to 60-day IL

I was Ryan Walkers little league coach when he was 12-13yo playing in Stilly Valley LL ( Arlington WA )

Great kid, hard worker and looks like his stats thus far justify his call up to the bigs.

He was not on my radar at all when he got the call up, but he has really looked great since arriving. He is a core part of our bully now (opener and late innings).

Yea I could tell from his ERA and 3-0 W/L record and seeing some of his innings that he would grow on the fan base.

true story: I gave all the kids on my LL team nicknames, they all got a big kick out of it and felt 'cool' when I addressed them as such during the games shouting instructions - praise etc from the dugout or coaches box at 3rd.

Ryans nick name was 'Big Show' :thumb:
