I just noticed that Strickland was DFA'd by us last season while he was rehabbing from TJ, so the "3 options" I listed for him is likely inaccurate. He should have 2 at the most.

DFA has nothing to do with it. He was optioned by the Giants (in Apr) before being DFA'd (in July), so one of his option years was used up. It turns out that he has ONLY been optioned in one year (2013), so he has TWO option years left (the Pirates added him to their 40-man after the 2012 season, and optioned him only once, in Mar of 2013).

Giants sold Monell to Baltimore.

Good luck, kid.

Rosario and Paguero non-tendered.

Arias, Petit, Belt, Abreu and Blanco offered arbitration.

I am adding Morse now. Hopefully this will jinx the signing and it will fall through.

No word yet on the corresponding 40 move. I would guess that some candidates are Machi, Kontos, Pill and Abreu. I would prefer a minor trade, obviously.

Surkamp DFA'd. The 40 is back to 40.

Rumors that Pill will be going to Korea. That still means we have some movement needed on the Adrianza/Abreu front before the end of ST, though.

Holy SHIT!! That is a move I did not see them making.

I agree. Someone on DrBs blog said something about the ability to pull him back if in fact we do sell Pill to the Korean team, as is rumored. I have never heard of that rule, so I doubt it really exists, but it would be nice.

As for "losing" Surkamp (I realize he isn't lost, Marco, relax), while it is a bit of a shock, it really isn't much of a loss. He has a realistic max-ceiling of a #5, but will likely be more of a 6/7 throughout his career.

Dime-a-dozen.

Pill officially gone. Sold to Korea for 500K.

No word on the rumor about pulling Kamp back. I doubt that was true, though.

I'm pretty sure that once a team DFA's a player, the waivers are non-revokable.

That is my understanding, outside of August waivers, of course.

I'm not sure what you mean, exactly. Once a player is designated for assignment, he is placed on "irrevocable outright waivers" - there are no "take backs" - even if the player is DFA'd in August.

There ARE waivers that are revokable, and not just the 'testing the waters' waivers post-July (formally called "Trade Assignment Waivers").

Minor league deal, $800K if he makes the team. I thought he'd get a lot more than that.

He has legal issues and serious health issues floating around him.

That said, the way he stepped up last year, I thought he had a 1M guarantee out there from SOMEONE.
