What the heck!?!? I didn't know that Tomlinson was hurt nor did I hear anything about a set back for Romo!
There was a setback for Romo about a week back. He is only about a week or so away from hitting the 60-day mark anyway, so moving him to the 60 doesn't really cost anything.

I believe 60 days for him will be on Monday, so yes this was simply a move the Giants HAD to make without DFA'ing someone. Of course, they'll have to when Romo comes back soon anyway. Pence could be 60-day'd I guess. Or with Crick's performance tonight, it could be his nail in the coffin.

I think Jake Smith is a more likely candidate for the dfa than Crick. Less invested in him and he's more of a fringe type prospect.

Didn't he have TJ?

I think injured players can't be DFA'd, so he would have to be released and resigned (I think).

Either way, I expect Pence to be 60'd before that anyway.

Ian Gardeck, who was already released and then re-signed.

Crick

46.2 innings

49 hits

26 walks

7 hit batters

32 K's

5.79 ERA

Batting average against: .274

WHIP: 1.61

This in the Eastern League, a "pitcher's" league

Crick is still only 23 (turns 24 in November), but he has been regressing. Too many expectations? Burnt out? Uncoachable? Bad coaching? :noidea:

Without knowing a damn thing, I think it may just be the yips. Dude was awesome until he wasn't. It seemed to be almost an over-night change for him.

I like this move. We are beat up on the infield, and he offers some veteran experience off the bench.

Personally, I am awaiting Grant Green to come up and Gonor to be sent down. Gonor needs regular playing time, and he has done very little in the first few months. Dude's hitting about .150/

Goner can't be "sent down". He would either need to be DFA'd or he needs to accept an assignment. Players very rarely do that, though. I think McGDP accepted his assignment a few years back, but he was a childhood fan of the Giants, so he REALLY wanted to make it work here.

OK, then release him. He's done nothing for us so far.

I don't disagree at all.

He earned his nic name well in his first go-around with the team and it is proving to be an apt name this time around as well.
