I know it's a SSS, but Brown did hit the ball up here when given the chance (3-7, zero K's). That had to make at least a small impression. And he did have at least 6 sac bunts in each of the last 4 years in the minors. We only had 45 as a team the whole year, last in the NL.

MLB.com had the stats I was looking for. Among the Giants non-pitchers still on the roster, Blanco had 6 sac bunts, and no one else had more than 2 this year. Having a decent bunter as a PH in the playoffs is a nice option to have. Plus he has shown he can do other things Bochy needs. Again, just guessing.

The 45 sac bunts is more a factor of Noggin than it is of the team, me thinks...

NLCS roster announced.

Only change is Morse in for Brown. No surprise there.

Timmy hanging on. I wonder which is worse - leaving him on and not playing him, or leaving him off and dealing with the distractions that would result from the media and fans howling.

I suppose he would be a good guy to finish up a blowout either way. Quite the letdown for him, I'm sure.

Having a mop-up guy is important in the regular season, but is a complete waste in the post season.

IBWT, but I just don't understand this one.

A "mop up guy", sure. But having a guy who can go 7 or 8 innings of relief can be very, very useful, as petit showed not so long ago.

Well yeah....that's why we have Petit...do we need Timmy too?

I think it's prudent. Two back-to-back extra inning games and he could be very useful. Who else would you rather have on the roster?

I would love to add another lefty, but Kick is the only option there, so... Yea...

As it is, I would still prefer to have Kontos or Cordier. I think there is more a chance that there will be a situation where we can use a 98 MPH FB or a righty specialist who hasn't completely lost the mound.

Of course, IBWT. So there is that...

Roster updated for off-season.

I THINK that Kontos and Cordier are out of options. If anyone knows differently, please let me know and I will update.

Bochy and Quiroz were out righted. Not sure if they need to clear waivers or not.

Quiroz - maybe we need catchers, but likely not him. He has had multiple chances, and has never performed (save for one glorious walkoff homer). There's no upside to keeping him, IMHO.

Bochy - good but not great. Not sure there is much upside, and IMHO it is such a HUGE conflict of interest with his dad as the Mgr. I don't question Dad's integrity one iota, but it just doesn't look right, and someone will always question something. In fact, I'm surprised there isn't a MLB rule against being managed by someone in the immediate family, honestly.

I believe they both have options. Marco?

Non-issue. Out-righted means that they are removed from the 40. The 25-man does not exist right now.

I find it kinda interesting that he was called up when he was. Now he gets a ring. Calling him up was a stretch at the time. If he wasn't the boss's son, would he have gotten the call?

I think it best for EVERYONE if he were to be allowed to move on to another org. No hard feelings. Good luck to ya. But let's just remove any potential issues.

Yep. See, the questions are already out there, and it would get a LOT worse if he made the 25 someday. Does any other manager have a son who plays in their org? We could swap. Criss cross.

I don't think it has happened since the Alous here in SF. Before that, was it the Ripkins in Baltimore?

I understand that it means they've been removed from the 40 man. My question is: what is their status now? FA? Waivers?

Also, why remove them from the 40 man? Rule V draft?

They will need to add a few kids to the 40 to protect them from the rule V.
