Is FZ a modern day Machiavelli? Wheels withing wheels, cycles within cycles, circles within circles, plans within plans, hidden motives? This guy really makes you scratch your head even though we have seen him work wonders with the Giants. It's a wild ride like the Wild Mouse at the boardwalk, Loved that ride but only got to ride it once or twice in my youth before it was gone. The Wild Mouse scarred the crap out of a lot of people LOL. :D

I used to understand this game. I could call Sabey Sabes’ deals days before he made them. There was understandable logic to them. And when he did surprise me with a move, I could see the logic in retrospect. It made sense. It fit within my universe. Same deal with Boch and his in game moves. The second he made a move, I saw the genius in it. I may not have seen it before, but I understood it instinctively once he made it.

FZ is not that way. I have no idea what he is doing. Same with Kap. Not only can I not see their moves before they are made, I can’t attack or defend them after the fact. All I know is that their moves work, and I have absolutely no idea why.

The Giants acquired infielder Mike Ford from the Mariners for cash considerations. He will join the active roster today. Ka'ai Tom returns to Sacramento.

New option rules soon approaching! Rosters have to be shrunk on May 2nd! COVID replacements! I think FZ is getting drunk on transactions.

Damn!!

I missed a serious investment opportunity!

I should have invested in Kleenex earlier this week. FZ will be going through his Kleenex supply enough to effect the national supply in the next couple days.

He doesn't look like he even owns a bat. I assume he is a defensive wiz? Only 25, though.

It’s all part of the churn. The ejections will be massive in the next few days.

Ford looks like he has a very nice bat.

Prob is he is almost 30 years old and he only plays 1B.
I get that FZ likes to find diamonds in the rough but he doesn't even keep most of them long enough to find out if they are even diamonds. The churn seems incredibly excessive. Minor issue, though, considering the team just keeps winning.

Interestingly, I think there will be a lot fewer being lost if FZ just did a straight one up for one COVID IL placement than the way he's gone about getting replacements. Does Tom being option invalidate the ability to take him off the 40 man roster without passing through waivers?

I don’t think Tom was optioned. I think he was removed from the 40/28. A team can’t remove a player from the 40 through this back door shuffle that I think you are talking about. The player who would be getting removed via your scenario would be getting SCREWED.

Btw…

I don’t see the Diaz trade anywhere. Is that guy who tweeted it an actual reliable source?

1) I don’t trust the wording being used there. We had this discussion a while back.

2) Are we certain Tom was added via the .Covid rules? Wasnt there an extra player added?
Yes, they don't always get it right. Yes, he was one of three added that day, with two players going on the COVID IL and Junis being optioned the day before. But 40 man roster spot was only open because Littell was placed on the COVID IL a couple days earlier and Castro was recalled instead of a player not on the 40 man roster.

Strangely enough, this article says Diaz was dfa'd over a month ago. I am going to guess that this is a minor league trade.

This all reminds me how I tend to buy stuff at Home Depot ... I go in to purchase a Drill set and leave with .. a drill set, another hammer, a wrench set, a nail gun, a case of starter fluid, a table saw blade ... and a hand full of items from the 'reduced area ....

BTW ... 95 percent of what I bought is still in its original packaging ... and will never be used ... but I have it .... just in case
