Per Roster Resources, Tom was “returned to the minors” and removed from the 40.

I don’t know about that, but Roster Resource showed that he still had one left.

Giants also signed Darien Nunez to a minor league deal.

Inventory churn, baby.

And Krizan cleared waivers and has been outrighted.

These things happen so fast and furious. I thought he was called up for a Covid guy, so he didn’t need to clear waiver.

My guess is that Krizan didn't count as a COVID replacement based on how the Giants made their moves for COVID replacements. I think the weird thing is how the Giants announced their moves at the end. Krizan had to sit on waivers a few days in order to clear waivers.

The article on MLBTR mentions that he was a Covid replacement. I suspect they were just a bit fast and loose with the use of the phrase “cleared waivers”.

They mention he came up during the time guys went on the COVID IL but specifically as a COVID replacement. I know I'm being nitpicky but there may be a difference and that is why he may have gone through waivers.

This goes back to our discussion from a few weeks ago. It is really aggravating when the beats are lazy with their word choices. Some of (granted, very few of us) are REALLY interested in the exact flow of player status’ (stati?) and their fast/loose descriptions of transactions can be very confusing.

They probably don't even know the details and don't want to figure it out. Thus, being lazy.
And, yes, some of us are on the lunatic fringe of player transactions.

only 2 players remain in the organization from the 2014 draft:
-Logan Webb (4th round)
-Austin Slater (8th round)

I expect Beede to be claimed. There is still potential in that thar arm.
The next few days will be telling. I'm a bit surprised that they pulled the trigger now. Sure, he had a bad night last night but he wasn't so bad up until then. The momentum was going away from him being let go. Why drop him now when he looked worse coming into spring training (and in spring training)?
