I can't fault the OP for I doubt Eloco knew it, but the Pens had what was believed to be their true first Superstar killed in a auto accident. I realize this is a april fools joke... it just reminded me of this guy. My dad had an opportunity to see Michel Briere play in his only season with Pittsburgh during his rookie season in 1969. Michel Briere is the only player other than Mario to have his number retired by the team.

During his final year as a junior, he scored 75 goals and 86 assists for 161 points for the Shawinigan Falls Bruins of the QMJHL. In his lone season with Pittsburgh he scored 12 goals and 32 assists in the regular season, and more importantly, lead Pittsburgh to its most playoff wins at that time with 10 games in which he scored 5 goals and 3 assists.

The QMJHL named it's MVP award in Briere's honor after his death.
