minnows .. I just have better luck with live bait

I always get more fish with live. I think I get bigger fish with lures, but I have no scientific proof.

I barely catch anything with lures..

I only fuck with lures in the Spring when they will attack anything. When the bite gets tough, I go to live. I love nightcrawlers. You can catch anything with those mofos.

I have great luck using jigs with a small piece of uncooked chicken skin dangling from the hook, especially when they are biting on mealworms, the skin is tuff, stays on the jig for 5-6 fish, try it some time.

A jig with waxworms for all panfish work pretty well for me.

Jigs!! I rarely use minnows. Zoom makes a little 2 in. jig called the "shad" that I just found last fall and the crappie have been killing it. If they want touch the Zoom shad, I'll go to a 2 in. Bass assassin curly tail shad with about a 3/32nd-1/8th jig head. Between those two baits I rarely come home empty handed.

The Zoom Shad

I only use the solid white ones, but this is the only pic I could find.
