I am hoping Guyton will improve from last year. He could not possibly be worse.
That's a big risk. If it were just learning a new position that would be one thing. But I heard the Cowboys coaching staff was very disappointed in his lack of preparation and toughness. He will get a go over with the nee staff but I think it will be sink or swim

i think he'd be a solid pick up as well. He won't be all that expensive and he'd help the transition to the new oline coach for the oline room.
For sure. Even if he starts at RG and it kicks Hoffman to backup center/guard, with Bass, Richards and the Thomas kid, they would be about done on the OL without spending much. They need a backup QB, at least one WR who can play, two if Turpin leaves and a starting RB. They really don't have to break the bank on any of that. The defense is going to require a lot more attention IMO

I'm not saying that SHOULD be the plan, I said it's an option. Fact is, Jerry and Stephen pretend we are cash strapped and have no cap space. Steele wasn't terrible but he wasn't great either, and he is getting paid. The club drafted a RT in Guyton in round 1 and hoped he could play LT, but like Mazi, he needs time to develop (to say the least). Guyton had more holding penalties last season than Martin had in his entire career(true story). So either they ride with Guyton again at LT(not me) or they have to add a LT or kick out Tyler. The latter seems the easiest fix, though TSmith is one heck of a LG
I'm not penciling in Guyton as a starter anywhere in 2025. I'm not saying he won't, I'm just saying he needs to improve a crap ton just to be a below average starter...and he may very well do that. I'm adding an OL with the potential to start to this group if I'm in charge. Tyler's position flex gives them the ability to add one at any position. They weren't horrible but they weren't good either.

Yeah I think we arr saying the same thing, it's always just what do they need to do vs what will the Cowboys do. To me, there's no world where Guyton deserves to walk in as starter anywhere without earning it, whether that's vs Richards at LT, vs Steele at RT if Smith kicks out or vs a draft pick. I just think he is going to be handed the job, like I also think Tolbert and Mingo will start out likely as #2 and #3, which is embarrassingly stupid, especially in Mingo's case

Will Hernandez?
played under new OL coach Adams at Zona.

also a standout at UTEP entering his 8th season.
Drafted # 34 in 2018.
Makes a lot of sense if they want to become a running team. Smith,Beebe and Hernandez would open holes. I would welcome this. I like Hoffman and Bass ,but an upgrade would help the running game

Receiver is an issue. Tolbert don't look like a quality number 3. Mingo sucked

Yes. What i outlined is what I think Jerry and Stephen will do on offense. I think we could use 12 or 44 on a QB like Jackson Dart or the kid from Ohio State and be well served by it. We could also use one of those two on RB for a starting RB(as well as a later pick for a backup). IMO, we need 2-3 WR's who can play, so certainly there. You know how I feel about TE lol. We could use it at LT or RG. We need a starting DE, 2 starting DT's, a starting MLB, a slot corner and starting FS. Plus depth everywhere lol

Lot of ways they can go to upgrade a certain position at 12. DT not adequate. RB not adequate. OT not adequate. WR not adequate. DE could be better. Williams will be back but they need another one. They are going to have to resign some of their own guys and a few good outside free agents or the 2025 season is screwed. A repeat of last off season means they are going to be in rebuild mode whether they admit it or not. You can't contend if the majority of the roster is UDFA

The only DT's on the roster are Mazi and Rodgers. That's it. Deuce is the only half back. Dak has no backup. Overshown may miss the whole season. We have some issues

I'm not saying he is really good, but is Tolbert really that bad of a #3? He is playing in our Offense and with our QBs and still does "ok". Our problem is right now he is #2 which is really bad. But, if we brought in another receiver and bumped him back to #3 it's not so bad IMO.

The Mingo move remains a classic Jerry move that destroys this franchise. Everyone knew our season was over and that if anything we should be selling, but admitting that would mean admitting he shit the bed in the offseason. Also, the negative talk about our crappy offseason was at its peak. So Jerry goes out and trades a 4th round pick for a guy who was barely playing on the Panthers in an attempt to say we are still in this thing as if him doing that actually made it so. This incompetent fool actually believes if he keeps saying things that people will believe it is the truth. He keeps saying he is the best man for the GM job and he and his dopey son may believe it, but literally no one else in the world does. And why Mingo? Because he still holds onto our draft rating of him from a few years ago and completely ignores how he has actually done in the league since then which is all that matters. That's like drafting a guy with a crappy College career because he played well in High School.
