It's on a case by case basis, obviously. You're the one who tried to treat it as a tautology either way. The only truly mobile QB who has a chance of getting near the elite level is RG3. The rest of the elite guys will continue to be passers first, and RG3 would be better if he did as well.
He is a passer first. If you hadn't noticed, his completion percentage is better when in the pocket versus out of the pocket. His mobility is just another phase of his game. His accuracy and ball placement was amazing last season. QBs before him such as Cunningham, Young, Stewart, McNabb, Vick, Newton, none of them had the passing skills and mental maturity at the QB position so early in their careers as Griffin showed this past season. I will agree with you that he does need to slim down his attempts to run the ball.

Someone might have done this already in this thread but I wouldnt expect a first if you look at recent QB with some playing experience being traded.

Philly received a player and a second for Kolb
Texans traded down in the first and gave up a third for Schuab.
Orton was a throw in to get Cutler
Jets gave up a second and a third for Tebow
The Bills are the only one I can think of stupid enough to give up a 1st for a QB with limited playing experience and that was for Rob Johnson.

One designed run is too many.

dude , we are going to let RG3 be RG3 . he would be making a huge mistake trying to make him strictly a pocket passer as brady's practice the other day showed you can get hurt more often in the pocket

we arent going to strip away half his game

Cousins has thrown 50 passes. That doesn't mean any more than 5 passes does. Neither have been proven in the NFL, period.
Watching Mallet as we speak, he sucks. Though he just threw a touchdown, it was a better catch by the tight end than the pass from Mallet. The guy just looks lost out there. Under throwing the ball, stepping over his own feet, terribly over throwing the receiver.
Yeah....I see it. Better value than Cousins. NOT!!!

You absolutely do not get hurt more in the pocket. That's retarded on the face of it.

He got hurt in the pocket, but that doesn't mean you're not 10-20 times more likely o be hurt anywhere but the pocket than in the pocket.

What study are you citing that proved that a QB on a designed run is 10 -20 times more likely to get hurt than a QB that is stationary in the pocket? Or did you just pull this out of your ass?

fran tarkenton 18 years , steve young 18 years randall cunningham 16 years
john elway 16 years all are running qbs who played a long time in the NFL vick is entering year 12 . kordell stewart 10 years

so stop with the "more likely " hogwash . there are no stats that i have seen that back up what you are saying

The only guy you listed who wasn't a passer first was Vick, and he has missed more time due to injury than most starters in the league.
