He is one of three people accused of being involved, and he's been charged by the police with this crime, not a lawsuit. I really doubt it's a money grab.

if he's not, i hope he learns his lesson. putting yourself in a bad situation can sometimes be just as bad as doing something bad yourself

Petaccio is a U.S. citizen in Canada; the other two are Canadians. If Petaccio flees the country, it'd be a huge hassle to extradite him from another country. His bail court date is today; if he posts bail I imagine they'll let him go too.
