Not mentioned in the above tweet is the fact quarterback Dak Prescott has an astronomical 136 passer rating when targeting Cooper . In short, he has been everything the Cowboys’ front office, coaching staff and fans hoped for.

Cooper’s biggest impact has been on third down. Thursday, Dak targeted Cooper nine times. Amari picked up five first downs and two touchdowns on those targets, meaning only twice did the attempt fail to yield a first down or a score.

This isn’t anything new. Cooper has become Dak’s favorite third down target. According to Austin Gayle at Pro Football Focus 70% of the third down balls thrown to Cooper have resulted in first downs or touchdowns since he became a Cowboy.

Cooper is a lot younger and more valuable in that regard but he would have been a #2 WR for Philly and their 3rd option which would have been ok. But in Dallas he’s the lead and he seems like a better 2. I’m glad we didn’t do a 2 and would have disagreed. Just saw a stat that Cooper has 4 hundred yard games in his last 20 games. Take those 4 away and he has 30 something catches for 400+ yard over 16 games. Yuck.

He does have a better upside and it made sense Dallas going for the younger guy but there’s a chance it could be a top 10 pick and that would hurt really REALLY bad. He might not reach his upside either. Time will tell.

Cooper easily has the most upside.

Tate already knows how to catch, run routes, get YAC, etc. What area is he supposed to improve on?
