Saw much higher rated RB's including Newby play this past season. We all saw the number one rated back according to rivals: Derrick Green. Hoke CRIED on the phone when the kid committed. He was a non factor when we played them. Honestly he looked like a cheap knockoff of Imani.

that because they lied about green specs and numbers
he's from richmond his high schools is like 10 min down from where I used to stay in Richmond. hype machine to the max. kids in central va are getting smaller so yeah he put up stats. but his speed was no where what he said and he is a north south with no major cuts or juke moves. He needs to lose the weight and gain alot of speed or he will be the typical big back that needs 5-10 yards of space to get his speed up.

I haven't watched his film yet either.....but I don't expect great things.

Usually when we get a 4-star they have something wrong with them.........like an arm growing out of their back or something like that.

There has to be some reason why the bigger schools are backing off of them and pushing them our way.

not gonna lie I feel the same way when a 4 star commits. I start to wonder what wrong with him and why haven't the big schools come yet.

I'll be honest with you......I'm pretty simple through this whole process now.

Brasky posted that thread that literally proved that the teams with the top recruiting classes in years prior were the teams winning Championships.

So when I see Nebraska pick up 3-star players, I'm not even going to waste my time watching their film. I'll always find enough sugar to add to my kool-aid to make every single diamond in the rough the next Ndamukong Suh.

For now on, I am only going to get enthused when we pick up 4-stars.....plain and simple. We play like a 3-star team right now, and that's all we get is 3-stars. So this here pick up makes me happy.
-------
Except you can count on one hand the number of 4/5 star recruiting classes TO got. We've always excelled in using 3 stars--we just need the right coaches to turn 'em in to 4 & 5 star players:suds:

Yea we have always been a 3-star attracting kind of program.

Osborne figured out about that juice that you can inject into your ass cheek and make you really strong and fast though. Right around the early 90's or so.....when he went and saw how Florida State was doing it.

Yes. To use national championships as the measuring stick for 4/5 stars isn't completely fair. Well coached 3 stars coupled with a few 4 stars should fiinish 2nd tier (#7 -#15) or even 1st tier (top 6 or so) in the final rankings occasionally.

If NU could finish Top 10 once in a while as opposed to the 20's or even unranked, then better players would show interest.

Nebraska's recruiting classes under Bo are ranked close to or even higher than many of the teams they are losing to. Sometimes by embarrasingly wide margins.

It reallly is more about quality of coaching from Bo, Beck, Papuchis,, Dobson, all the way down to position coaches. They've got to put all the pieces together and get the players prepared better.

Being loaded with 4/5 stars doesn't guarantee a top 10 finish any more than a load of 3 stars guarantees a #20 or lower finish.

Well, the first time we see a team full 3-stars win a title I will believe all that....

But for now, Florida State just solidified my theory.

You are much to young to remember the Campbell fighting Camels team of 1912, but we didnt have any of yer fancy pants stars we had this thing called guts, and a lot of it. I once challenged the governor to a gentalmans dual for slapping my goat. He declined and stole my onion that I had hanging from my trousers, Which was the style at the time. I cought up with him a mile down the road and rubbed a rutabaga in his eye.

No I read the whole thing and took it all in.....it's just that your last line where you said, "The amount of stars your classes have do not directly relate to the type of season you will have" stood out to me.....

Because the only teams winning titles are teams that indeed did get a bunch of 4 and 5 stars.

And it's not like Florida State was winning a bunch of games to get those recruits.....they just got them.....because they're Florida State. Just like how Auburn gets their recruits.....and Georgia.....and Texas..etc etc. They don't win to get their recruits......they get their recruits to win.

Well there's Texas Lsu Alabama Florida that kinda disproves your theory....and those are just off the top of my head....as there are plenty more. You can assume all you want that all of Obornes 3 * classes were shooting up but I've seen nothing that proves that. Some of the players, (I'm sure) but TO still had a far better group of assistants that could coach than Bo does. Besides just because a 3* uses doesn't guarantee he'll be a better player, you still need coaching which most of Bo's staff is allergic too.

So now you're mis-quoting me too. :L Those were not my words.

You continue to pin everything down to national championships and nothing else, hence you gathered nothing from my post.

Again. Nebraska plays like a 3rd tier program at best and generally a 4th tier program. This is against many teams where Nebraska has higher rated recruiting classes. There are teams that have a slew of 3 stars with a few 4 stars sprinkled in that reach 1st or 2nd tier status. There are also teams with a slew of 4 stars that don't finish 1st or 2nd tier.

It's not all about winning national championships. They are hard to win without a little luck along the way. It IS about putting yourself in position to be in the mix for one. Nebraska is a great distance away from that for a decade now, and there are teams out there with lesser recruiting classes considerably closer.

It's not all about national championships. A top 10 or even 15 finish once in a while would be nice. There are other teams with a slew of 3 stars doing it.

It's coaching and development.

National Championship, National Championship, National Championship.

How about a 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12th place finish once in a while?

Bo Pelini is an abject failure for a program like Nebraska. Not only has Nebraska not improved from his first year, it can be argued they've slid somewhat in the 6 years since. Anybody with a lick of sense can see that, including recruits and their parents seeking big programs with elite coaching. I don't blame a kid at all for not wanting to play for him when there are at least 20 some better coaches to play for.

If Nebraska lived in the same recruiting hotbed as all of the programs that actually have success out there recruiting, then recruiting wouldn't be an issue......as is the case for all those schools. They don't even win and they still pull in the bluechips.

We are at a disadvantage because of who we are and where we're located......and unfortunately we left the Big 12 right when it got really shitty and allowed a team like Kansas State to look like world beaters.
