Buckle up!!
Yeah, he's done a good job. That, or...
Hellebuyck is a big part of it, but credit where it's due. I wouldn't have thought that Hasek and Brodeur's love child could save that blueline.

This is allowed with no penalty whatsoever??
Can't a player and team mutually agree to terminate a deal at any time?
Just looked at CapFriendly and he is listed as "Suspended without pay" and his cap hit of 7.6m does not apply.
Oh, hellllll no.
Let me append the above and mention that in the replies to the seravelli tweet someone posted a season preview snet podcast with friedman from sept in which he says “word on the street” was buff told the jets at the end of last season that he wanted to retire and the team told him to wait on that decision ... so if thats the case ... thats the hand chevy played (waiting it out and trying to convince buff to come back) and he lost
Then yeah, he fucked himself out of cap space for an entire season in which his blue line lost its two biggest pieces. That shit would totally be on him.Let me append the above and mention that in the replies to the seravelli tweet someone posted a season preview snet podcast with friedman from sept in which he says “word on the street” was buff told the jets at the end of last season that he wanted to retire and the team told him to wait on that decision ... so if thats the case ... thats the hand chevy played (waiting it out and trying to convince buff to come back) and he lost
It’s different when the player is deciding to not take the money. That rarely happens (and yet has happened twice this season lol).If that is the case, then the Jets should get no relief and his 7.5 should count this year and next.
The point of a salary cap is to hold teams accountable for the contracts they give out. When you give a bad one, you should be punished.

If he would have retired at last seasons end, the remaining cap hit would have gone away though.
